I have been working in Jack in the Box longer than a year now and this is just a Public Service Announcement to any future customers going to the drive thru in order to help everyone - - - not just the customers, but also the employees. Here are things that everyone should know when going to the drive thru at Jack in the Box.
Most fast food restaurants have timers that start when a car pulls up at the microphone. Most of the time, the employees are very pressured into finishing the ENTIRE order (no matter how long the order is) within two minutes... That's right. TWO minutes. So please be considerate to the employees and cutomers waiting in line and use our mobile app for long orders so we can make the food and ready for your taking.
We have two menus at the drive thru for a reason. One is for the customer to decide on what they want, and the other is when you are READY to order and read what you want to order. Since the timer starts when a car pulls up at the microphone, please be ready to order because we will respond with: "Hi! Welcome to Jack in the Box. What can I get started for you?" and not be "Umm... Can I have a minute please?" Because that minute of you deciding will force us to stand idly on what you will say which means we can not leave our register to assist our coworkers becaude we are too busy waiting for the customer to be ready when we could be preparing the drinks, food, etc. Worst of all, the timer is going and time has gone by without the food being ready.
Please, please, please! Speak clearly and concisely because it honestly does not help anyone if a customer is just taking like they are being monitored by the NSA. Speaking loudly will absolutely be amazing because we can hear what you want and speaking clearly will help us help you with your order :)
If you can, try not to order food when you pull up at the window. Nothing bothers us more than a customer wanting to add an entire meal at the window. Because we try to minimize the amount of time for each car; we make your food as soon as you say what you want. For example, "I would want 2 tacos and a Jumbo Jack." As soon as you say those things our cook is already preparing the burger, and our fryer is already making your tacos. If you order at the window, we will have to start from scratch, and what do you know, the timer has gone by and customers are going to wait longer just for you.
Lastly, we are people too. Please treat us as one. So when we do mess up, please do not treat the situation like it's the end of the world. Try to put yourself in our shoes. We are underpaid, constantly stressed out and sometimes have grueling shifts. Especially at night, when the store is at its busiest but with the least employees. Sometimes we would only have two people doing everything such as working the fryers, the grill, and the drive the drive thru / the front all at the same time.
Here's a scenario: there are two people working. One is at the register taking orders, and the other is at the grill and fryers. A car pulls up and orders burgers, fries, and a milk shake. While the customer is ordering, we are already on our feet preparing the everything while still talking to the customer. When the customer goes to the window we greet the customer and inform them the total. Customer gives money and while we are counting the money, another car pulls up at the microphone and we immediately respond:"Hi! Welcome to Jack in the Box.what can I get started for you?" We speak to the next customer all while counting your money, making your food, and running back and forth to get everything done... Rinse and repeat. Now do this constantly throughout the day for at least 8 hours! It can get pretty stressful.
Anyway, I hope (if anyone reads this) this helps. And I hope you have an awesome day! Now go enjoy...
Read moreStopped by here to grab something to eat between our gig delivery job. We wanted to use the restroom first this woman photo attached looked at me and my girlfriend disgustingly and with a attitude said it's for customers only I let her know that we were going to go to the drive-thru afterwards we just needed to take a piss she very rudely let one of us go per time even though there was two restrooms available. Because we both really needed to go badly we just went into the stall together and right before we walked in she popped out and said no really loudly and yelled at us at this point I called her the b word because what she is doing is completely wrong. She then tries to ask us to leave I went ahead and used the restroom legally and rightfully as a customer of the Jack in the box corporation. I will be reporting her to corporate this type of behavior is unacceptable in this society and unacceptable and this society I will be reporting to corporate. There are cameras and other people around can't believe she had the guts to treat a customer this way and then you see Jack in the box locations have homeless hanging around doing drugs unbelievable let me guess is it their skin color you tell me Jack???? We ended up just leaving and my girlfriend didn't even want to go in afterwards because she was so uncomfortable...
Read moreI always go to Jack in the box and the people that assist me are so helpful and nice. However this morning there was no one in line and I stood there waiting for someone to help me for about 5 minutes. The cooks just looked at me without greeting me. Finally the manager (at the time I did not know it was the manager) said I will be with you in a moment. She begin to say how may I help you? I thought she was talking to me. Apparently she was talking in the headset. I continued to stand there without being helped. Finally after 6 more minutes. She said how can I help you. I explained to her that I stood here for 10 minutes waiting to be helped. She explained to me that she was helping a customer in the drivre-thru. My understanding of customer service-if a customer is front of you-you acknowledge them and assist them, you don't just leave them standing there. I explained this to the manager. She explained to me that the customer in the drive-thru had a $40 order that is why it took so long. Either way I waited to long to order food. The manager did not aloapologize. She just kept giving a excuse why she did not assist me in a timely manner. It was...
