Lets start with the food. The pizza I ordered was very good. I would say it was excellent except there was one issue. I ordered the margherita pizza and the flavor was excellent, however, it needed more mozzarella cheese. The cheese that was on it was so so good! Look at the picture and you'll see what I mean. Otherwise the food was great. The restaurant itself was small with only a few stools to eat at if you order just a slice of pizza. So, in other words, it wasn't anything special, more a hole in the wall really. No ambiance to speak of. Its really not a place you go to sit and eat anyway so I don't knock them for it. The service was acceptable, nothing exceptional. The owner appeared to be throwing the pizza dough in the back. He didn't say anything to anyone. Not a huge deal, as long as the pizza is good, but would have been nice. The food I came for was good thankfully, with the mozzarella caveat, otherwise its not something to remember or wrote home about. I'd go again in a...
Read moreI went to acupuncture school accross the street from the old Fiori's, and would occassionaly enjoy a slice....more than 30 years ago, and then over the years when I would walk by on the way home from my old office in Mission Hills.
Was walking by yesterday and noticed they had reopened just as a pizzeria (the old place was a liquor store w/pizza.)
I was happy to see that one of the very nice previous employees has reopened with his very nice wife and very nice son; a family affair. Getting food from nice people is the best spice.
Well enough, but what about the pizza? It was really delicious, and the place and the pizza were both very clean....Why I say that is there are pizzerias where the display window is dirty, and the pizza greasy and over salted.
It was a very nice crust, the flavor was delicioius, and I liked that is was not too salty. Some places are just so salty you need a lot of water...
Read moreThere’s a lot of pizza in this neighborhood, so you have to stand out in service and quality if you want my repeat business.
For a slice of pizza the service is fast, not the friendliest vibe, but fast. I prefer this pizza over Slice House but the owner never smiled but the part that was awkward was him giving me the stink eye while talking to his cook and I felt uncomfortable. The crust is a tad thicker with a nice chew and has a nice bottom crust once toasted. I also felt the crust had decent flavor. I don’t know if I’ll return. I may just go back to the Bronx Pizza or Lefty’s Chicago pizza which are both within walking distance of Fiori’s. I usually get friendly vibes when I go out but this one fell short. I’ll have to try Massachusetts Mike’s pizza next which is also close by. I generally order whole pies from The Pizza Standard, Hoboken,...
