The Legacy Resort and Spa Hotel my check in experience was great with Patricia she made sure we knew she was available until 10 pm if we needed anything rooms was ready a hour before check in time which was shocking. It was my daughter's birthday July 13th the day we checked in for 4 days and 3 nights with her husband and sons. We dropped the bags washed face and hands because we had dinner reservations. I did not inspect my room but noticed it was dark and warm. After returning back to hotel about 7:30 pm my grandson decided he wanted to stay with me I had 2 queen beds it was not a problem. I begin to turn on lights and turn on air because it was hot. I put the card in the holder next to thermostat and set the temperature did not read that you have to leave card in for air conditioner to stay on. Lighting was poor and the door entering the room did not shut automatically you had to push to open and pull to close not normal. Then I noticed that the entire room was dirty trash behind the credenza and garbage can, top of credenza full of dust and crumbs and food crumbs on the floor between the beds. The room had not been sanitized or cleaned properly by looking at everything this time is was 8:30 pm and I was tired my grandson said I think they gave you the wrong room this is not a room that should be given to anyone and I thought we where staying at a Resort. So I looked at the advertisement of the Legacy Resort and Spa in San Diego Ca. and read about their commitment to cleaning and comfort and high end linen all the comforts of your home again, this room is not at all like my home which is spotless and high end, the room could be in a shelter in my opinion. I was Very disturbed. I called down and spoke with Patricia she apologized and said she would send up housekeeping it's my money I should be happy with the room I told her yes even though I had taken pictures of room I said please so at least someone else can see the room she said he was very good. JoVon from housekeeping came to room and looked at everything he was a very nice young man and very professional he said walls need painting carpet needs shampooing, floors needs vacuuming and tile needs mopping he got on his knees and scrapped up black grime from floor he did not seem to understand the one sink situation for a room that could sleep 4. He said could send someone to paint, shampoo I said not tonight who would want to sleep in those fumes he agreed , he said he could clean everything I said I would just like a different room. He said he would report back that I was not losing my mind the room is not what Legacy would present to anyone to stay in. Patricia had called and said no room to change me to tonight but she could leave a note for front desk staff to change me tomorrow which would be my 2nd day and it would be on 3rd floor with my daughter still. The next morning around 6 or 7, I called front desk and asked about the note and room change the lady said nothing yet but she saw the note would have a room around 1/2 pm today I said that is find I will be out until around that time she said perfect. Upon returning at about 2:30, I stopped at front desk I asked Patricia if they had my room she had just got to work so she did not know but asked the other two front desk person and no one had done anything they would need to get back with me. So the family and I went to my room and the drawers were all opened the patio door open the garbage can sitting on credenza and the other garbage can sitting on toilet, room had been vacuumed the frayed Lenin had been removed but nothing else was done, I called down to front desk they had Daniel the supervisor come up he was Absolutely Horrible he did not want to acknowledge anything except that I had military rate he would give 20% off the rm. Waneda the Mgr nice lady gave me1 night free 2 nights would have been fair since Sat/Sun the room was crawling with cleaning crew and maintenance fixing and cleaning what should have been cleaned, Daniel said on Sun.to many people in...

There are few instances in live where you feel so compelled to literally write the review and post it while still physically being on location. But my experience so far has far exceeded any expectations that I really don't believe anything for the remainder of my stay could overshadow it!
In essence it isn't how far away your destination is, but far your destination can take you.
I made a last second reservation after a series of circumstances which ultimately resulted in me not being able to be checked into an inferior motel. Upon arrival I was greeted so warmly by Shirly at the front desk and her level of customer service was attentive and interpersonal, completely every as sensational as the resort and ambience is visually stunning! She extended every courtesy with such professional acumen all with singlehandedly holding it down on her own, which is more than I can say about the dismissive attitude I received when checking in at that shady motel moments prior. In total my stay was so enjoyable I'm writing this review moments before I check out and from the room and other accommodations that just ooze luxury and opulence with all that and more you'd believe that I paid 2.5x's more and with that said the current deals being offered makes this gem an exceptional value! Bar none!
The next morning I was just about astounded with the stroke of fortunes that was delivered into my email inbox as this side of the world slept. As it would have it a reservation I attempted to book which I thought stalled out into limbo processed overnight! Mind you it would have been no bother to bring it up at check-out later in the morning and contact the booking service as necessary.
However, when I casually reviewed the pertinent information the rate that was listed was almost too good to be true especially with the fact that I was receiving 4-star/4-diamond levels of accommodations and service! How neat I thought, I'll see if they could fancy this whim and accommodate this confirmation at check-out.
Later that morning in the main lobby another delightful young lady was expeditiously attending to arriving guests and come my turn, greeted me and asked if i had a pleasant stay and ready to check out. I partially obliged and brought up the alternate reservation and Amy seamlessly broke into her mode and with empathy asked if I cared to have her look into seeing about cancelling it. I shared with her that I wouldn't be fully opposed to keeping the reservation. With enthusiasm Amy was all thumbs and in a few quick keystrokes, asked if I wouldn't mind staying the same room, which I didn't mind; and she was handing me my new set of key cards. And she bid me an enjoyable stay. Wow! Amy was just as every bit a dynamo in her own right as Shirly was the day prior! Kudos to the decision maker that selected these two professionals. The icing on the cake is that I will receive the warm greetings and salutations as I enter and exit the lobby from the wonderful gentleman others have mentioned in their reviews and the rest of the staff that will take time out of their busy workday to exchange kind pleasantries about energy beverage choices! Yes my man, Venom energy drinks are the best value for a buck! Thanks for noticing. :)
I can only endorse the Legacy with all my enthusiasm, I'm already looking forward to my next staycation at this charming resort and hotel! Thanks again Shirly, Amy and staff! Stay...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review will be pretty detailed, but I do want to preface it by saying I stayed at this hotel during its soft opening. Their official opening won't happen until the end of March 2020.
I'm going to start with the positives.
The staff: They were absolutely fantastic! I am giving 4 stars almost entirely because of them. Every single person that helped us was very nice and helpful. It is amazing how much a helpful staff can improve your stay.
The rooms: Brand new hotel, and the rooms look it. Very modern, very clean, very comfortable bed and pillows. I've been to California 3 times this year on trips, and this was the most comfortable bed I slept in. The other hotels I stayed at were in same price range. Overall, they're not going to blow you away or anything, but they are very nice.
Amenities: I can't say a lot about them because we didn't use them at all. As I said, the hotel isn't completely done, so the only things I saw were the pool and gym. It was in the 60's while I was there, so we didn't use the pool. The gym left a little to be desired, and maybe it's not done. There were no free weights, only some cardio machines, yoga mats, and balance balls.
Location: Honestly, this hotel is very nice, and looks like it should have been built somewhere more scenic than the hotel circle area. We spent most of our time in the Old Town and Mission Bay area, and this hotel is less than 10 minutes to that area.
Ok, now the negative.
The room: So, I feel like they made some poor choices with the items in the room. I hate these hotels where you have to put your key in the slot for the lights, AC, etc.. to work. I understand why they do it, but people find ways for the AC to run while they are gone. The thermostat in the room could not just be turned off. It had a +/- 5 degrees of whatever temp they have as the middle ground (my guess is around 72). So, to turn off the AC, you had to pull the card out of the slot, which meant the lights wouldn't work (except the ones on the nightstand). It was really annoying. Also, they have like an Android based telephone in the room, which is fine except I couldn't figure out how to turn the very bright display off at night. I called the front desk and they didn't know either. So, I just unplugged it at night.
The fees: Resort fees are just a thing now, and I get it, but this resort wasn't open all the way yet. I felt during their soft opening they shouldn't have charged that fee. They also charge $25/day per vehicle for parking. So, just add another almost $50/day to your room fee if you're driving. Internet is a paltry 5 Mbps, unless you spring $15/day for 20 Mbps, which I did. We couldn't even stream Netflix on the free tier and my cell service wasn't great in the area (Verizon).
Location: With convenience comes the trade off of being right next to a freeway. So, your view isn't great and the freeway noise is there. But, we didn't hear the freeway at night. The sliding glass door blocked all the noise.
Overall: I would probably stay here again, but I would probably check to see how good the the resort features they are working...
