I give stars only based on food. I leave the review for my experience.
I forgot to take photos of my food (sorry) but I ordered Beef Chow Mein and Braised Beef Noodle Soup to go. First, the container for the soup gets an A+. Super easy and convenient and the separation didn’t allow for the noodles to become soggy by the time I got home. Although I didn’t eat in the store, the restaurant was clean, bright and seemed welcoming as did the staff.
Unfortunately, the food did not hold to it’s current 4.6 rating. It was really just basic Chinese food. The soup broth was actually delicious, nice depth. The four pieces of beef chunks in the soup were overcooked (not braised whatsoever) and tasted like they’ve been in a deep freezer for a while. The noodles were run of the mill. And the broccoli was perfect but there were only two tiny pieces.
The chow mein felt ordinary. The beef had a little more of a grilled taste but still not high quality. Noodles were meh. And it just really lacked any developed flavors. Honestly, didn’t even finish it.

Read moreThese dumpling joints are becoming trendy and popping up all over San Diego! Hi Dumplings took over Mr. Spicy and they sell dumplings and traditional dishes.
We ordered: -cucumber salad -scallion pancakes -xiao long bao -eggplant in brown sauce -spicy beef noodle soup -spicy chili wonton -pan fried pork and shrimp
I love the noodle texture in the beef noodle soup. The xiao long bao are smaller with thin wrapping. I thought it was good but friends said they were previously frozen and not made fresh in house like the chili wonton. Because of that, we didn’t order another tray or try the crab version. The pan fried dumplings had perfect crispy edges and right amount of meat (although I think these were frozen too).
The food was average but has potential to stay because we need this in the neighborhood. If you need a dumpling quick fix, this is the place. Will be coming back to try other dishes. 3.5 rounding to 4,...
Read moreWe found this quint spot in a strip shopping area. It wasn't super busy, but the cooks were busy preparing plenty of food for to go orders. Our waiter was pretty straightforward and not very interacting. His main concern was to take our order.
We got the following: Cucumber Salad, Pork Pot Stickers, Scallion Pancake, Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings, Xaio Long Bao, Spicy Wontons, Char Chui Bao, and Beef Chow Main.
The Scallion Pancakes could have used some more scallions, but it was still good. Aside from that, we really enjoyed all of the food. The best things that stood out were the Xaio Long Bao, Beef Chow Mein and Spicy Wontons.
Beware: The Spicy items are in fact Spicy.
Best of all, we ate all of that and paid a 20% tip at a cost of...
