I did not have a good experience at all. We walked in and were told to follow to staff to a table, we were not given any time at all even before we had tableware, plates and ect there were servers at the table already pushing food at us. When I asked them to explain some things I got no answers, I asked what some of the food was and they just pointed at it and set it on my table. A woman came by and said tea and set the pot on the table, It's NOT complimentary by the way. But how was I supposed to know there were no menus present nothing was provided. They placed a card on the table and stamped it when ever something was placed on the table, with no indication of what each dish cost or how pricing worked. And again when I tried to get an understanding of how their establishment worked I got no where. In total we got the Tea and water to drink. 1 sliced pork ,1 really small dumpling, 2 shrimp dumpling things, 1 chicken potsticker and 2 rice no I don't know the exact name of the dishes, I did try to ask.......all the portions are small. After the initial rush of servers swarming us even before we sat down and feeling very overwhelmed. It was only at the end of our meal someone came back around with a cart. A woman came up pointed at an empty plate asked if we were done, we said yes and she took the plate and the ticket to get the bill, we never said we were done eating only that we were done with the plate she pointed at. Needless to say at this point I was ready to go the service was sub-par and not very accommodating and the food was ok I've had way better though. When the woman returned with the bill it was $90 !!!! I almost fell out of my chair. I couldn't believe it. $90 for nothing and when I asked why the bill was so high I was met with ( Eating out is expensive)......that's the answer I got. While I understand the business is different I've paid less for all you can eat Korean BBQ, yes I might have to cook some of the food but not all, it's not like they are making this to order for me either it's pre-made and on a cart. Closing thoughts not worth the time...
Read moreOk, I usually don't leave negative review, especially the place that I frequently visit. I have been to this place around 8 times with my friends. The food is ok, but it's one of the best dim sum you can find in San Diego. Although the service was not the best, but we still all think it's a decent place to visit often to get a quick lunch. This thought, however, got completely destroyed by the awful experience we had.
We sat down, and the food cart quickly swarmed us and served multiple dishes. And then.. that's it. Yup. That's it. No servant came. We sat there for 10+minutes without any drinks, cuz no one even care to come and let us order drinks. When a servant finally came, her arrogant face seems like we are some kind of degrading fugitives that own her millions of dollars. She wasn't even hiding her prejudices and racism against us, which is super common in dim sum restaurants (yeah these Cantonese speakers always despise Mandarin Speaker guests, cuz they look down on mainland Chinese). After being greeted with her disgusting attitude, only TWO carts visited us later, then no nothing. No servant. No cart. No good. What we don't understand was that multiple carts just ignored us. Like they just walked right past us without asking and serve the tables right next to us cuz those tables either speak Cantonese or are non-Asian guests. We were still hungry, and since no carts were willing to serve us food, we decided to order something, but NO ONE showed up. We don't even have menu! We couldn't even find servants in the hall, cuz guess what, they were standing in front of the front desk, chatting and laughing. I'm sure they are busy, but certainly are not busy on doing something they should do, which is serve!
We felt so disappointed and left straight away. What a horrible experience. Visited this place so many times, and still got treated like insects. We definitely will never return, and we strongly encourage you not to come to this place (if you are non-mainland Chinese...
Read moreThis was recommended by a group of friends so I tried this place during a vacation visit.
We went on a Tuesday before noon so it wasnt that busy, being good timing. The space, decorative pieces, and ambiance was great. Being familar to this with one dim sum place growing up, I was hoping a server or cart staff would have at least asked us if we had been here before so they can help guide us with food and pricing, but there was no conversation or direction on that as carts came fast.
With the dim sim carts, we were immediately asked/provided tea; we had the steamed chicken rice in lotus leaf, fried crab meat on sugarcane, fried spring onion chicken wings, steamed rice roll with beef, steamed shrimp dumplings and steamed shrimp/veggie dumplings.
All plates were delicious except the steamed rice roll with beef. I felt that it was not fresh/hot anymore - it was luke warm. This should not have been served.
After this meal, the bill came to $48 before tip, which was a bit hefty in my opinion but I'm sure price varies in different areas and plates. My suggestion is that they provide the price on their card, stamp or cart so customers can see the price before ordering as I wanted to know the prices justifying the total.
Service wise, the cart staff were friendly and fast. The FOH host or manager did check on us once. There wasn't a specific server to us as there was one cleaning our plates, one filling our water, and another providing/taking the card payment. The annoying part is when the server taking my card payment was standing one table away to collect the signed receipt - I felt they hovered over us as we were finishing our meal to take this and I felt uncomfortable. As soon as we got up, they came to our table and collected the paper. Please inform staff not to do this as it may make customers feel rushed and uncomfortable.
Overall, my experience was good. This restaurant will be on my list as an optional place to eat, not a "go-to" for future visits in my...
