Krispy Kreme — Restaurant in San Diego

Note: I am not a big fan of donuts and I think all donuts taste the same so my review might reflect that. Just a fair warning. I was here on July 13, 2017 at around 21:50 (9:50pm) 10 minutes before their front closes. I believe their drive-thru opens 24 hours though. We saw several people who tried to come in after the doors were closed though so I thought it was funny. It was probably because we were eating outside the tables next to the drive thru entrance or they saw our car parked in the front. Anyways, we came in and ordered a dozen donuts after our dinner. The person in the counter was nice to get our donuts and I also ordered a drink here since I was thirsty. I split the donuts with 3 of my friends. Since they were closing, we decided to sit outside. The donuts were okay. I liked some of them, but they all taste the same to me. I know and hear that Krispy Kreme makes good donuts though and I tried other shops. I can taste some difference between a chocolate and few other sweets, but the after taste to me is all just sweet. Even the cheesecake taste the same as regular donuts, but a bit sweeter. I am not that amazed at donuts like many other people who are. Maybe it is because I used to eat everyday and there are always free donuts that I get sick of it. Or because donuts are too sweet for me. But I can say that when I ate the donuts here that it is great for those that love donuts. So it is not bad, but not the best. I also can say that the time we had the donuts, it was not as fresh since we did come near closing time, but still edible. One of my friends thought it was too sweet too, but my other friend liked it. TL;DR: The donuts here taste average to me. Maybe we came at a bad time, but it is passable. Went to this location on Friday July 31 for the buy one dozen get a $2 dozen of chocolate glazed donuts and waited in the drive-thru for about 20 minutes just to be told that I needed a coupon that would have been emailed to me to be able to get this deal. Even though the krispy Kreme official website and instagram page says that all you have to do is visit a participating location. I have screenshots that show this is in fact a participating location. I pulled up to the window to tell the lady and she just kept repeating to me that I needed a coupon and completely disregarded everything I told and showed her. I proceeded to leave and contact krispykreme's official instagram page where I asked about said coupon and was told that in no way was any coupon or email required and that they should have honored the deal. They then directed me to their customer support email and said they would investigate the situation. I waited half the day and called them over the phone to see if they would still lie and of course they did. I told the lady I was speaking to that I contacted krispy kreme through instagram and email and told her how no email or coupon is required but she kept insisting I needed one and then I proceeded to ask her how I could obtain said email and she said it was random. I was at the crispy Kreme donuts couple days ago. I asked them I want a half of dozen donuts I get home I open the box I got four donuts I order three donuts from my son and three donuts for me my son got two his donuts then I got my one donut and there was another donut I did not like thank God my son liked that one.I drove all the way from El Cajon. I called them up tell them situation she told me I could come back I told her I won't be able to be there for a couple of days I work cuz it's far. She said it's okay she'll have my name on the list. So today Friday we went back down there to get our free donuts I get there it was a different manager a male with dark hair I know he was trying to be nice I told him the situation and he said was it mixed donuts I said yes . He walked away I thought he might have got a box so we can pick out or six donuts no he comes back with a box of mixed donuts a dozen of them that was sweet. I walked out to my car to open up the donut to get one to my son and they were old donuts a day old how do I know it's old it kind of looks shrunk and sweaty because fresh donuts are coated with hard glaze and fresh looking not sweaty like it's dripping I was going to go back inside but I had it drove out here twice wasting my gas and my time I will never come back here again I will drive further to other Krispy Kreme donuts and I never had this kind of problem and had a bad day old donut that sweated on my finger.😡😠😤 And plus these donuts is supposed to melt in your mouth not sweat in...
