Mariscos y Frutas Kyrios is a lonchera specializing in mariscos and fruit salads co-located in the parking lot of a large Normal Heights laundromat that has a typical regional Baja seafood menu of fish tacos, ceviches, cĂłcteles, tostadas, and aguachiles. This was one of the very few humdrum mariscos truck experiences I've had in San Diego and not a truck I'd eat at again.
At $1.25, the price is right for their "Baja Fish Taco." Unfortunately, it is quite ordinary as fish tacos go, lacking a crispy batter on the fish. The squeeze-bottle salsa that I mistook (due to its color) for a chipotle cream sauce ended up being a habanero-infused scorcher, which helped - and the thick corn tortillas were alright (though pulled from a bag) but, other than that, I'd need to think a lot harder than I'm willing to for more nice things to write about this taco. Below average fish taco for San Diego and Southern California in general.
The "Marlin Taco" has all the components of what could be a good marlin taco: smoked braised fish, ensalada española, avocado, crema, and I especially loved the thick layer of white cheese, charred on the surface, gooey in the middle, yet crusted onto the corn tortilla. The problem is that the fish was just a bit "too much." I know some people who enjoy these type of strong fish flavors and who would probably really be into this, but not my thing at all. It was not rancid or spoiled, just strongly flavored. This is due to either the prep or sourcing of the fish here at Mariscos y Frutas Kyrios, as I have found other marlin tacos around town to be...

Itâs a black food truck at the corner parking lot of Fresh Clean Laundry and Jui-Jutsu.
We got 4 fish tacos ($1.85), octopus taco ($7) and Kyrio style oysters ($24 for 6). Thatâs $38.40 but we were charged $29. So maybe there was some sort of deal after all?
The fish tacos are worth it. Itâs fully stuffed with toppings and battered fish and creamy sauce.
The octopus had four options. I picked spicy. It came grilled with octopus pieces and onions with a black sauce, a slice of avocado on two tortilla. So good and had a kick.
The oysters were even better. First time ordering oysters from a food truck. Itâs Kyrio style which is their twist and it had pico de gallon with diced cucumber and shrimp on top of the oyster with a slice of avocado on top. It came with 6 giant oysters and it was so good! I could only eat two.
I love the added avocado slices. We will be...
