I was driving down the street and I kept seeing billboards that read 99 cent chorizo and egg burrito. I hadn't had breakfast yet so I decided to stop. This place is a taco shop inside 7-11. Only one of its kind. 7-11's don't usually have food places inside their store. So I go in and it turns out the 99 cent deal is a taco not a burrito. They need to change the billboards. So anyway I like tacos so I ordered 3. I figured they'd be small because of the price and the burrito in the picture looked small, like a rolled taco. The food setup was a bunch of bins of food already cooked and set on a steam table. Food like this tends to not be good because you don't know how long its been sitting there and it can be dry, hard and over cooked. Ok so, you get your choice of tortillas, corn or flour. I chose corn. They were the little mini tortillas so the cook doubled them. My tacos were stuffed with eggs. Like 2 scrambled eggs per taco. Nice! As far as the chorizo goes it wasn't blended with the eggs like I expected. It was diced into small chunks and barely had any but what can you expect for 99 cents? The eggs were light and fluffy. Soft scrambled. I couldn't get over how good they were! Delicious! Pretty much a scrambled egg taco. I didn't care about the chorizo, the eggs were that good! Just like homemade I plan to return and try some of the other menu items. But I was pleasantly surprised...
Read moreThe young lady at 3504 El Cajon Blvd in my mind today has brought down a 5 star rating I give every other employee in that store. Since it's reopening I have been going out of my way to get coffee at this location because of the good nature, helpfulness and overall attitudes they have. Today however I decided to try the breakfast. I asked her how long before she would be ready to serve and her response was, "when I'm done." So being a Monday morning I was fine with going to my car and drink my coffee and wait 30 minutes. After 30 minutes I came back in and even explained that I wasn't rushing her but was she ready. After making me feel as though I was bothering her, as she put away her cellphone she asked what I wanted and I told her I'd try a combination plate. What I was given was some cold eggs and cold potatos and nothing more. Charged full price. Now I an older Marine Corps veteran and undrstand people, situations and keep my composure and did just that but as a first time customer at the grill will say that it will be my last. That young lady needs her attitude and customer service skills reviewed before she runs off more customers like myself who meant no harm and just wanted to try the full scope...
Read moreThis place is unlike other taco shops that you might see in SoCal. The style is more TEXMEX which is delicious and underappreciated in these parts. Flour tortillas are freshly rolled and made to order. My favorites are breakfast tacos with chorizo and egg or potato and egg. If you're feeling adventurous, try the El Campeon mix! Don't forget your fresh hot sauce varieties. My favorite was the green sauce or the green avocado hot sauce served in single serve cups to take with you. They also have chips with queso (read melty velveta style cheese sauce--a TEXMEX staple), lunch taco plates with beef and chicken fajitas, rice, and beans (charro or refried). I like how convenient it is. However, I would recommend calling ahead to place an order if you are ordering more than just a few tacos on flour since it takes them some time to roll the dough. Laredo Taco is inside 7/11 and is a pilot store for the area. The 7/11 is brand new a super...
