La Perla Cocina #2 — Restaurant in San Diego

WARNING: I've eaten at over 100 taco shops from San Diego to Tijuana and this is the only place that gave me a sense of food poisoning aka the Runs. For all the good reviews they have , they are mediocre compared to other top places in San Diego .

The food was very average, definitely over priced. First time I felt like I may have the runs from any Mexican restaurant In San Diego. For anyone who thinks this place is good, they definitely haven't tried enough places to know what's really good. Won't be coming here again. Should have went to Oscar's Mexican seafood down the street, they have superior quality, taste and prices compared to this place. I would place this restaurant near the bottom compared to the many great places in San Diego like Oscar's, City Tacos, the Taco Stand, Tacos El Gordo ...

I’ve tried some local burritos in my area and decided to venture a little further this time because I’ve heard good things. I got the California burrito and my boyfriend got the Oaxacalifornia (which is wrapped in a quesadilla!) in the photo you can see the size difference. At first I was hungry and upset his was much bigger- But there’s no need to be!! The size of the California burrito is perfect. And for the oaxacalifornia it makes sense it’s bigger. Perfect sized burritos and the meat is unlike any I’ve had. Delicious good quality! Not to mention their salsa. So so good. If you want a filling burrito worth the money and every bite I recommend coming here. I’ll be trying their #3 location which somehow has a higher rating! This location is small with big...

It pains me to say this, but La Perla has gone down hill over the past couple of years. This place has been my go-to for 8 years. The California burritos used to be amazing. I still love the al pastor, but the size is just not sufficient. I understand inflation, and the prices have also increased significantly, but it's super disappointing that they've also reduced the size of the burritos so much. In recent years, the size has decreased by almost half and more recently the flavor of the meat has not been what it used to be. I wish this place was still good because I don't have a good alternative nearby, but it's just average now.
