I saw this shoppe passing by. I figured I'd try it. Usually a hole in the wall ends up giving you a good food coma. I have tried cheesesteaks across the U.S and I wanted to try my luck. I bought 2 cheesesteaks. They were small but I figured a small business can't keep up with a huge national chain. But I figured the taste and overall quality would send Jersey Mike's to the dump. Uh .... No. The meat had no taste, it was dry. At $32 I was so disappointed I threw one of them away. I don't know about the rest of their menu but I definitely will not waste another dollar after that below subpar experience. The girl at the register was standoffish. I was trying to ask questions to understand before I passed judgement. She didn't like that. So before I threw the second sandwich away I went to Jersey Mike's and did a comparison shot for all you cheesesteak lovers.

The only thing this place had going for it was the area was clean. Go to Brewskis East...
Read moreAuthentic Philly Cheese steaks and hoagies. I lived in Northeast Philly before moving out to San Diego. These are way better than Jersey Mike's and Firehouse Subs. The key is not only a fair portion of fresh ingredients, but to stuff everything into an Amoroso roll. Every time I eat here I feel like I'm back in Philly. The service is always fast and friendly. Everything on the menu is delicious. Plus, they always have Tastykake treats. Gotta love the Kandy Kakes! Philly Joe retired and the shop is now owned by Abbey's BBQ a few doors down. Update: Got a large Italian hoagie. It was very tasty, however it seemed to contain less meat than in the past. Hopefully this was just a one time issue and not an ongoing cost cutting measure. Update: Got a large Italian hoagie. It was very tasty, however it still contained less meat than in the past. Update: Got a large Joe's Special Cheese steak with hot cherry peppers. It was very good. Read moreI was so blessed to learn it was the celebration of the stores original opening of 44 years., Joe came from Philly and visited San Diego and decided to dream up His own Philly cheesesteak sandwich shop in San Diego. He envisioned a great sandwich shop that would cater home type delicious food to its local customers. One that would get to know it’s regulars and give that 5 star service.
Today it’s still Maintained by long time employee, Anna, who welcomes and greets you. The new owners Matt and his brother strive to perfection to continue Joes legacy.
This is a great home away from home, if you’re from Philly. Unfortunately I’m not but if I was from Philly, this place takes all the (cheese) steaks.
I had the original cheese steak and salad. The flavors combined with excellent service made my experience an amazing one!
Definitely a must try if you’re in the area looking for something hearty and...
