I was never a pizza hut fan, even as a child. But hey! I'm a privileged white guy who has had an opportunity to enjoy some of the harder hardships the rest of my family never really thought about. This pizza hut franchise is a part of the restaurant meals program for CalFresh which means that while I have taken up residence a few times now over the past decade at Balboa Park and Morley Field, I have the comfort knowing that I can buy a pizza or two for less than 7-Eleven charges and know I'm not eating straight up thawed out frozen pizza, and I have more options as well. The team is friendly and moreover the guys running the register know what to do whenever I pull out that EBT card. And you can pre-order preparing for the longer than usual walk than just hopping in the car for carryout. To my understanding they'll even do delivery with your EBT info so long as you can provide it on request at one of their predetermined drop-off points, but you have to cash out the delivery fee and tip. Maybe once I no longer have a need for public assistance, I'll use the last months allowance and get my fellow park lodgers and throw a pizza party for them. Because as much as I've helped anyone who's asked for it, to the best of my ability and within the means I have at that moment, I know the struggles now that I've lived them, and resources go fast and are easily removed by those who wanted or needed them more, park officials doing their job and peace officers going above and beyond their duty, seeing less of the humanity and more corralling us to the shelters even during viral and bacterial outbreaks spreading the disease. But hunger, hunger here amongst the homeless is far less than it was 10 years ago, heck housing isn't what it was 5 years ago. But that's for some other review...Pizza hut on Texas Street and University Ave Restaurant meals program for the homeless and elderly, it's not just a lifesaver, it's an increase in my...
Read moreFrom the Pizza Chains, Pizza hut was my favorite; however this location has became a NO-GO! Their Pizza's gave me a serious FOOD POISONING as it was my last unusual bit in the evening.
Taken away that most deals aren't even available here, it is still quite pricey for what your get. Pricey or not- you should not get sick and they should adhere to their food safety standards. Just to get the orders done as soon as possible, leaving customers out with under baked Pizza is just wrong.
The previous time I've ordered the stuffed crust, which is a thick-ish crust with cheese filled in the sides. To be honest, due to the under-baked nature of the Pizza the cheese was 1 with the dough as you could only taste elastic dough- and then the cheese.
They provided me with a $20 coupon on a $35 dollar order when I requested a refund. This was not provided, and I thought; let me give them another try- which I did last night. This time I was afraid of re-ordering the stuffed crust, but when with their most thin and crispy Pizza. Sounds pretty vague if they messed up the crispy one as well?
Apparently not the 1st 2nd or 3rd time- UNDERBAKED again. As I had extra chicken, that wasn't cooked well and probably had been sitting their since the early afternoon and the day before.
GUYS, PLEASE TAKE THEIR 2/5 STARS SERIOUSLY. People who share a review are simply just a fraction of people who've had encountered some serious problems here.
Oh, and taking care of an issue? Forget it. They'll tell you that you will be called back; but that would...
Read moreThe staff at this location are not properly trained to work. Today, 1-12-22 at approximately 4:23pm I called to place an order. The young man who sounded Latino asked my number then hung up on me.
I called back, the same person answered. He asked again for my Number then proceeded to tell me I needed to give him my address even though the order was a carry out order. I asked why my address was even relevant if I am carrying out? This ignorant little boy says “you have multiple addresses on file so you need to tell us what address”. Shocked and confused I begin asking him why it mattered. It seemed like either he typed the wrong number or maybe my number belonged to someone in the system a long time ago because I have only been in San Diego for three days. This was my first time ordering pizza.
So, I proceed to tell him how irrelevant that info was and he hung up me. Again. I called back and someone named Eddie answered. The first thing he asks is pick up or delivery. And I briefly explain this issue. He then says oh. This is customer service. Are you trying to reach the store? Once again I am hung up on. I call back and no one answered. I block my number then someone answered. They were playing around and being unprofessional at my expense and I blame the manager. There’s no way behavior like that should be allowed. I won’t eat here or support this business again. Thanks for...
