We've been using the carnitas mini TJ tacos as our standard barometer for various taco shops, and these were among the worst we've found. Their offering is five mini tacos for just under $10.00, which is a more generous offer than any other place (4 for $9-10 is "standard"). The size of the tortillas was not as big as others, nor as small, and were fairly fresh. The portion of meat was generous, but the carnitas were dry, seemed to have been reheated (they were piping hot), pretty salty, and otherwise fairly flavorless. To be fair, they did not list carnitas as an option on the menu, but I thought I'd ask, and they were willing to accommodate our request. There was enough onion and almost enough cilantro, but no lime or lemon wedges and no guacamole. Those last two omissions were deal breakers for us (in addition to the dry meat). :-( The green salsa was flavorful and not too hot, the red was also tasty and packed more punch. Based on our one item yardstick, we will not be back. There are so many other great drive through taco shops in San Diego (and one of our new favorites just down the street!), why bother. Life is too short to eat...

*Staff does not carry sense of urgency. I went there on a Monday night and I was the only customer. It took at least 3 minutes for the cashier to take my order since she and the cook was watching a video in the kitchen (and I was in their line of sight). It was really late and there were no other places open so even though I knew the food is always mediocre or below, I went in. The cashier's face read "I hate you, I hate my job and I hate myself". I can somewhat understand dealing with the highly intoxicated clientele could be hard on someone's nerves (especially on the weekends) but if it's that bad on you, maybe it's time to look for another place to work. No apologies for ignoring me, didn't ask "for here or to go", no thank you. She put everything in a bag, left it on the counter and went back to chat with the cook. Chicken tacos: Lukewarm chicken with ice cold shredded cheese and ice cold lettuce. This place feeds on the captive audience and doesn't care about food quality at all....

HONESTLY NOT GOOD!! I was expecting a lot from this place now that I know what they provide. I ordered 3 adobada tacos and to carne asada tacos I believe it was one of their specials. The other while they were burnt overcooked and very very greasy. The carne asada tacos tasted like they had been mixed with other types of meat or if they cook them on the grill without cleaning because it taste it very much like other meats Cabeza or maybe something else not sure but it tasted really nasty and not close to carne asada that is been prepped or cooked correctly. How can you mess up carne asada if your carne asada is not good then more than likely nothing is good. Service was okay plays was clean but the food should be the main attraction to me restaurant or Taco Shop at least that's my point of view. I think they do it to save food another quick thing that I noticed is that they'll put a lot of onion and cilantro to their tacos to...

I ordered a chicken taco and five rolled tacos. The chicken taco was massive. It was actually pretty tasty. The rolled tacos were a bit on the small side and lacked the flavor I was looking for. However, the hot carrots, jalapeños, and salsas were all really good. I’ll be back to try out a few more items so I can give a better review. Update: I returned to try the California burrito. As a disclaimer, I got it through the drive thru, took it home, and reheated it for 10 minutes in the oven. It was pretty good! However, it was a bit dry, due to them not giving sour cream and guacamole by default—they’re add-one, which I didn’t realize at the time. Still, a 3.9/5-star Cali burrito. Recommend adding either sour cream or guacamole to help with dryness.

I realize trying one thing on a menu and reviewing it isn’t always a valid representation. That being said, I had a taste and I’m reviewing it anyway. Long wait for food in drive thru with only one car in front...and the prices didn’t match what was posted on the display; so service points dropped from the start. $12 and chance for the carne asada fries... I was surprised seeing the portions so that’s a plus.::then dug in looking for flavor and there was none...made me crave animal style fries from in&out. They should add some herbs and grilled onions or even a slaw mix..texture and taste wise it needed something. But the portion looked good. May return and try another item.
