California Burrito Rating (#24) On a mission to find the best California Burrito. Stop number twenty-four: Tacos El Paisa The Burrito: They served me a massive burrito. Hands down the biggest one I’ve had so far. The meat was flavorful, the French fries were crispy, and the sour cream sauce worked well. They didn’t skimp on ingredients, which is great — but the burrito was on the dry side. You’re definitely going to need some sauces, which I didn’t see available. If they had added avocado and a solid sauce lineup, this could’ve been an amazing California burrito. Price? $14 — pretty fair for what you get. 7 out of 10 Service: Service was… neutral. The guy behind the counter stood with his back to me for a solid minute, staring at the menu like he was meditating. The girl was friendlier, though. 2 out of 10 Atmosphere: Colorful walls, paintings, and a fenced-in patio give the place a bit of charm. But it wasn’t exactly clean. One TV was playing Daredevil, the other had cartoons — kind of chaotic vibe, no clear style. 5 out of 10

Iv been a loyal customer for over a decade, and even though this hurts my soul because I loved it here unfortunately as of the last year or so, IV been experiencing disappointment after disappointment. I understand Mistakes happen , but when it comes to the handling of allergies and customer satisfaction theres a line you can't cross and they sure have multiple times. I thought since they've added the pressure to tip and are getting tipped by me always they'd ensure quality and better attention to detail. Especially when dealing with allergens. Multiple times have we had to waste not only time, gas and the unnecessary arguments with employees to get our food corrected . I know the owners and head chef would never let this quality of satisfaction fly by Incident happened 09/03/25 at 2pm

Food was good. I ordered the carne asada fries. Cheese was not completely melted but once I moved it around with the hot carne asada it started to melt. The salsa was good. Only one type was provided but at least it was good and a little spicy. They don't offer filtered tap water and I don't like, wish they would install a filter. Service is so so. We stood at the register with two gentlemen there for over 3 minutes and not one of the two acknowledged us and we were clearly ready to order. Place was not busy and not many parking spots were available. I did however really like their outside sitting area.

I would have given this place 5 stars, but the customer service is very poor.

My family and I ordered food from this place. The order was incorrect because the cashier misheard me and I couldn't completely hear my order when she repeated it back to me. This miscommunication happened for a few reasons: First, the drive-thru intercome that they speak is not clear on the receiving or delivery side. When you speak they can't understand/hear your order completely. When the cashier speaks, you can't hear them clearly.

Secondly, cashier speaks too fast with a strong accent. When you are repeating the order, you should not speak fast. Slow down your speech so the customer can understand what you're saying.

Please take into account your surroundings and equipment that is being used that contributed to the miscommunication before you get an attitude because of an incorrect order.

You're only very extremely busy & loud street, there's construction being done next to your establishment, the intercom being used is not the best quality & or in the best shape, and you speak fast with a strong accent.

I thanked the larger female cashier 7 times during our interaction and not once did she say "you're welcome". She looked at me and ignored my kind gesture because she was irritated and had an attitude be we misunderstood eachother. The professional thing would have been to say "you're welcome" and not have an attitude due to a mishap.

Pros On the other hand, the food is amazing. I'll give 4.8 stars. This Taco shop is probably top 3 in SD based on taste, flavor, and quality. The facility in the inside is very clean. Adequate seating for individual and large parties. The food was delicious, portion size was great, and pricing is reasonable.

If it wasn't for the cashier with the attitude, I would have given this...

The first and only time I will ever come here. I went into the drive-thru, and there was no line. I already knew what I wanted (Carne Asada Fries). After waiting for three minutes for someone to acknowledge me, they told me to come inside and order, even though the drive-thru was empty and the speakers were working fine. So I parked and went inside, and the cashier didn't understand a word of English after I told her I wanted a large order of carne asada fries and specifically asked her "what do you guys put on your carne asada fries?" four different times. She had to call another employee to take my order because she literally didn't understand, and this one was salty and had a bad attitude. So remind me to never come to this place of business again. They have a bad attitude, they tell you to go inside the restaurant when you're in the drive-thru, and the cashier literally doesn't have a clue what you're saying when you're trying to order food. I finally got my order, and the Carne Asada was dry anyway, and the fries were way too crunchy than they should've been. It's almost $20 that I won't waste at...
