TeaTown — Restaurant in San Diego

First time visiting TeaTown during my trip to San Diego. The drinks were amazing, not too sweet but not too bland, having the right consistency. Not only that but the drinks themselves are at a pretty great price for around $5~7, which is a steal cause their cup sizes are pretty big.

The staff there are really kind and super fast at finishing these orders. And are more than willing to help with any changes or modifications. For me, they finished my order in under 5 minutes, so the wait time wasn’t anything of an issue.

The ambience from the store is relatively calm and relaxing. There’s board games to play with your friends. There’s K-POP music playing in the background, there’s minor sounds from the workers using the machines but it doesn’t disrupt the vibe.

We came for their grand opening BOGO free special and service was super friendly. The discount applied to toppings too which was cool. We ordered the roasted oolong milk tea with boba, matcha green milk tea with boba, crème brûlée matcha, and chocolate cheese and Oreo.

The matcha green milk tea and roasted oolong milk teas were decently strong in flavor. Although the boba had a nice soft chewy texture, the boba was lacking in flavor.

Chocolate cheese & Oreo was just okay and probably not worth getting again due to the higher price.

I ordered the mango green tea 75% sugar, there’s no mango taste, and the green tea tastes like mint gum. And there’s a lingering taste similar to after spitting out a chewed gum. BUT +1 star cuz their boba texture is on point, good amount of chewiness. My friend ordered the watermelon green tea, also 75% sugar, but it doesn’t taste like watermelon. We both threw our drink 3-4 sips in.

I’m not sure if the water source is bad or the tea selection is bad, either way the taste should be reevaluated before going out...
