I have been wanting to try Toasted for a while! I was in the area with my friend and saw there one in Del Mar so we went! We walked in and had to wait about 3 minutes for anyone to come up and great us. We were seated right by the entrance which was fine but we were so far from all the other tables.. even trying to get more water was difficult due to the distance and lack of staff.. The inside of the restaurant was really nice inside and inviting but it was a week day during lunch and it there was only three tables filled. Two inside and one outside. We were served water and I asked for a new glass because mine looked like it wasnt cleaned very well.. We ordered the ABC Hash and the Grilled Cheese. The ABC Hash came out warm.. like the food wasn't made fresh but prepped before hand.. I think the only thing fresh were the eggs. The bacon in it didn't taste the freshest either.. but the potatoes were good and the eggs cooked almost perfectly. I think the food would have been amazing if it was fresh. The Grilled Cheese was made on sour dough bread with a Parmesan crust and it was actually delicious with good quality cheese. Overall, Toasted was good and I'd like to try more ln the menu but I think I will try a different location next time.

I recently went to Toasted Del Mar for brunch with a couple of friends, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The first thing that stood out was the atmosphere — the decor is stylish and inviting, that made it feel like the perfect spot for a relaxed weekend meal. Whether you’re sitting inside or out, it’s a bright, welcoming space that sets the tone for a leisurely brunch. We came in around 9:30am on Saturday and there was no wait. We tried three savory dishes: the shrimp & grits, short rib Benny, and the ABC hash. The shrimp & grits were the standout — creamy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The short rib Benny had a nice twist but came with a bit of a kick, so heads up if you’re not into spice. The ABC hash was just okay. For something sweet, we shared the stuffed French toast and loved it — a nice balance to the savory items. Service was another high point. Our server was attentive, friendly, and kept things moving at a comfortable pace. We never felt rushed, and we also didn’t have to wait long for anything. Toasted Del Mar is worth visiting if you’re looking for a beautiful setting and a relaxed brunch with friends.

Perfect for groups of any size! They easily accommodate large parties and families. Even though it's usually very easy to get a seat, because of the many dining options in this area, would still recommend a reservation. The outside patio is absolutely lovely with pretty sky views. Service was perfectly fine. Good value for your money with the great portions and solid tasting meals. Add salt to taste but over all very clean food, nicely prepared. I felt satisfied and not sluggish after my fancy Eggs Benedicts with crispy little potato balls with truffley shavings on top. Drip coffee is great! Will come back for some of those wild bloody Marys!

I've eaten at Sammy's (Del Mar) a few times in the past, those visits I'd give a 4 to 5 Star Rating. This last visit on 3/19, barely a 1-Star. We went for my daughter's 20th birthday, 4 families members eating. The restaurant was half closed due to remodel which I understand, so they had the patio set for seating. About a ten-minute wait, no issue. The rest of our visit was poor. Numerous other patrons were not happy, disgusted looks and discussions heard. The one server was apologizing for their shortcomings, actually we felt sorry for her. Another server, she was MIA most of the time. No busing of tables, as people got up, tables were not cleared. Only cleared when they sat new guests. Everything was late, the server greeting us, place settings, water, and drinks to the table, all the food orders late and barely warm (that required cooking), my one daughter's main dish which was a salad with chicken came out when the rest of us were done with our main course. When it arrived, there was no chicken on the salad. That was brought separately after we told the server, they ended up not charging for the salad. We were going to mention the birthday to our server, but we opted not to even ask, due to all the above mentioned and the fact we were there already for about 2-hours for a dinner that should have taken no more than 1-hour. To add insult, they charge a 5% surcharge to the bill after taxes, to assist with higher costs and wages (might have been a good idea to not have this on the bill on this particular night). Obviously, a majority of this seemed to be from low staffing levels, 1 hostess, 1 server (the other was MIA), 3 people in kitchen, no other employees seen in restaurant. Please improve! Such a nice venue, the food has been very good, and service in the past...
