We have lived in the neighborhood for a while and for some reason hadn't made it in for like 5 years. After last night, we are certain to be back very soon. The entire experience was exceptional. I will say that it wasn't very crowded so that always helps but honestly from top to bottom they killed it! Cocktails, salad, aps, and pizza were outstanding. Our bartender and server was Joe.. guy is a treasure! Best service you could hope for. I love supporting local small business, and I really love supporting the ones that are good. It's not easy to be as good as they were last night so hats off, thank you guys, will see you soon. This is very difficult for me to say because I am a massive Tribute fan but last night URBN was every bit as good as Tribute..
Quick edit .. after reading a few other reviews here that claim the pizza is okay, nothing special: You have poor taste and your recommendations are worthless. And if the brussels were too salty for you then you don't like gorgonzola. Which is fine, now you know that you don't like gorgonzola, so you learned something. I recommend the Costco food court for you. They put out a pizza that is just bland enough not to offend your sensitive pallet. AND.. if you like, you can bring it home and wash it down with a hard seltzer because I'm certain you were disappointed that URBN didn't have...
Read more(Update: I just visited 4 years after my original review. The food is still great. Don't be fooled by the rating. This is a regional specialty food that can catch you off guard if you are expecting generic pizza.)
If you like distinctive New Haven-style pizza, make sure you stop here and try as many classic pies as you can. URBN does New Haven style “apizza” (ah-BEETS) right. Coal-fired oven at 600 degrees. A mild char. Thin Neapolitan-style crust without too much cheese. Irregular shape on a half-sheet tray. It’s all there.
If you want to stay traditional, go with the Margarita or get a red pie with mozzarella and pepperoni. You’ll love the way the cheese leaves room for the tomato to bubble through. There is the URBN version of Frank Pepe’s classic clam pizza, only URBN uses Parmesan instead of Romano cheese and goes too light on the olive oil. It’s good, but makes you appreciate the original. The chicken pesto with broccoli is a winner as well. Because this is California, there are plenty of non-traditional options. But apizza is hard to find outside Connecticut, so I’m sticking with the tried and true.
The prices are good for a specialty pizza like this and the service has always...
Read moreI feel like I should warn people about ordering the chopped salad. It’s a $20 salad so perhaps my expectations were a bit too high but yikes. First off I ordered the salad without tomato or onion and it came with both. Once I picked off the things I didn’t want I noticed that some of the lettuce was brown… I picked that out too thinking no big deal sometimes you get a couple brown pieces but as I kept eating almost every piece of lettuce was brown. It almost seems like they put the old lettuce on the bottom and used the tomatoes and onions to disguise the lettuce. I’m normally not grossed out by the food here but I usually stick to the pizza. There was also very little salami in the salad. I actually used to work at their other location a long long time ago so I am very hesitant to write a bad review. Sorry guys… $20 for brown lettuce and like two pieces of salami? I guess I’ll stick to the pizza… maybe. It’s very upsetting when a place you love to eat disappoints you in this way. I picked out some of the lettuce in the photo below, I know it’s just a few pieces in the photo but I assure you it’s an accurate sample of the...
