If you’ve been thinking about booking an appointment, stop thinking and just book it! Originally, I had only booked a hair painting appointment with Allie because I had planned to get a cut at a different salon. However, to keep things consistent and because I wanted to try it out, I decided to book the next available appointment for the cut, before the color. While Allie didn’t have time slots available to do both services the same day, I was able to snag an appointment the week earlier with Olive for the cut. All I can say is WOW! Olive is so down to earth, she took the time to listen to what I wanted and she delivered! Never have I had such an amazing haircut (and I’ve had curly dry cuts before). I asked for layers and I got LAYERZZZ! I admire the close attention to detail and how intentional every snip is. Allie is also amazing! So sweet, welcoming, and passionate about curls. I couldn’t feel more comfortable as a new client. It was so easy working together to bring the look I wanted to life and I appreciate how she took the time to answer all my coloring questions. I also love that she took all the steps necessary to make sure I was shielded from any product accidentally landing where it shouldn’t. After gently applying products and drying my hair I was amazed to see the final results turned out exactly how I would style at home which tells me she really understood what my curls wanted. It also helps that the color is gorgeous! I feel bad that I can’t stick to one stylist but I’ve been spoiled by both of these amazing women and I won’t look back! Just goes to show how talented the amazing team at curlcraft is. Can’t wait for my next visit!

Allie!!!! I started going to Allie early in 2020 and have never looked back. The team has grown a lot and moved since then, and I’m confident all the stylists who have joined her and Skylar are just as talented. If you’ve got wavy / curly hair and like to wear it naturally (or have wavy / curly hair and WANT to wear it naturally but think you can’t or don’t know how to style it), their team will change EVERYTHING for you! Before I found Allie I wore my hair naturally still but always felt like it looked lifeless and flat - not the case anymore! Also - the costs of color might look a little intimidating, but at least in my experience I don’t need to get it done nearly as often. The way Allie does the paint makes it grow out super naturally so I can space it out! Also just as an aside, seems like some of the negative comments are about the cut when your hair is blown out or straightened. Can’t speak for anyone else, but my goal was always to love my cut when I’m wearing it naturally, i.e. how I wear it 95% of the time. Traditional stylists and traditional cuts never accomplished that for me. All that said, I’ve never once felt like my cut was anything less than stellar the (very infrequent) times I straighten or blow it out!

I was genuinely excited for my appointment at curly craft and so disappointed in the results. I have 3c curly hair and had my last curly cut at another salon out of state 3-4 months prior. I was happy with the way my hair had grown out, but was in need of a clean up. A CLEAN UP. NOT A FULL RESHAPING. The stylist said my hair was already a pretty good shape and didn’t need much taken off of the length. Yet I want to say she still took off 4-5 inches and reshaped in the least flattering way. If you’ve ever seen the notorious “shelf”- where curly stylists will created two distinct layers with no blending in between, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. So aside from not being happy with the length, the shape is absolutely dreadful. To top it off, it’s only been a few hours since the cut/style and my hair is already so frizzy and staticky like I’ve been rolling around in a pit full of balloons. I know this review is harsh but for a 200$+ haircut you expect to leave head over heels in love with your results, but instead I got home and cried at my little orphan Annie reflection in the mirror. If you’re a really curly girl (3B/C texture and curlier) save your money and go someplace else.

My recent experience at CurlCraft Salon in North Park, San Diego, was with hair stylist Alejandra, and she was absolutely phenomenal. I don’t normally write reviews, but she went above and beyond in my opinion!

Alejandra cut my curls using a different method/approach than I’d seen before, but it came out amazing! She seemed to have a good understanding of curl pattern and working with curls. I loved seeing my hair go through such a beautiful transformation from start to finish.

Having previously encountered a disappointing experience at a different curl salon, I was very cautious attempting to try a curl cut again. I have very long thick hair that I’ve been growing for a while now; but because of my sensitive scalp, I’m limited to certain hair products /homemade remedies, with ingredients that don’t give me issues. The last salon used products that resulted in me losing a good portion of my hair as well as losing some of my curl pattern, my scalp felt like it had been burned and hurt to even touch. Absolutely awful! I spent a year not letting anyone touch my hair in fact after my last curl salon nightmare.

Alejandra however, gave me exceptional care and attention to detail that truly set her apart. Not only did she skillfully craft my curls in a way that was new to me but she also showed an incredible understanding of my sensitivity concerns.

This girl even went above and beyond by going out of her way to check each product’s ingredients and even let me smell each one before applying it (to ensure the fragrance wouldn't cause any sensitivity issues.) Her dedication to accommodating my needs was both impressive and greatly appreciated.

Aside from her exceptional skills as a stylist, Alejandra's warm and affable nature made the entire experience enjoyable. Her genuine care for her clients shines through in her actions, making it evident that she's not only passionate about her craft but also deeply committed to her clients' satisfaction and comfort.

I can see Alejandra going far in her career: her attention to detail, combined with her understanding of sensitive scalp issues and her innovative approach to curl cuts, I think she’s tailor made to provide a service with everlasting results and make happy, loyal customers along the way.

I wholeheartedly recommend Alejandra at CurlCraft Salon to anyone seeking a stylist who understands the intricacies of curls, values sensitivity concerns, and aims for unparalleled client satisfaction.

Thank you, Alejandra, for your exceptional service and for making my salon visit an absolute pleasure. I am genuinely excited to return for your...

It's unfortunate that I have to write this review, but I have reached out to the stylist and she left me on read. I previously left a glowing review for Amy as I was absolutely stoked about my curly cut (May 23rd) and color correction (June 2nd). However, I noticed within a few short days that the darker color that had been applied to cover my previous horrendous blonde highlights had begun to fade. I thought a slight fading was perhaps normal, but then I started to notice that my roots were beginning to show as well. After paying close to $500 for this color correction, including teasy lights and root shading, I expected the color to hold up. Amy informed me that I wouldn't need to come back until between 4 and 6 months to have the roots shaded again. This was important to me as I was specifically looking for low maintenance coloring due to the previous constant need to get highlights every 6 to 8 weeks. In less than 2 months since I had the cut and color correction, my hair color was back to what it was prior to the color correction, meaning the highlights and low lights and roots now show through. I was even asked by a friend a few days ago if I had highlighted my hair again. I reached out to Amy on July 29, 2025 to inquire if this is normal or if there is a reason this could have occurred even though I am using sulfate free, color safe products, and only washing my hair once to twice a week. I even sent her pics. Sadly, she left me on read and has not responded. So I thought I should make others aware because after paying close to $300 for a haircut and close to $500 for a color correction, I expect the return on my investment to last more than 2 months. I would also expect the stylist and salon to stand behind their work or at least attempt to provide an explanation or have a discussion with me, but this wasn't the case. Now I am out of pocket about $800 with only a cut to show for it since the "color correction" lasted less than 2 months (photo evidence on Yelp), so I wanted to warn others. In this economy especially, this is a huge...
