I was looking for a place around Mission that had food after 9pm and found this. The looks of it were modern, the menu interesting, focusing on wine but with a selection of focaccia-based large appetizers, or perhaps small entrees. I chose wine, chatted with hostess and asked for an advice on food pairing. The street level was full so i have went upstairs. There was a common seating area and i was able to find a seat between two parties.
My food have arrived, and i have enjoyed it. I rarely want to lick my fingers but that night there was exception (didn’t do it, of course.)
I was visiting from Europe and the jetlag was hitting me still; i wanted to have a glass of water but the waitress/waiter was nowhere to be seen.
I spent time on my phone planning next part of my trip, looking for hotel in Seattle. Suddently i saw same person who took my order and asked her for glass of water and a dessert. She rudely refused the food (not the water) and said that i am disturbing the order and have to leave. I was thunderstruck, i was alone and hardly looking at anything but my plate (now empty) and phone.
I politely asked for a bill and another glass of water, as the air was a bit stiff from the crowd. She got angry at me and brought some huge guy who started to touch me, intimidate me and did not let me calmly leave the venue with my stuff, a small shopping bag with gift for my son.
I went downstairs, they followed me too closely thus making me very uncomfortable. In a moment of despair i asked for my bill (i have paid upfront but wanted a record of my visit.). The bouncer pushed me out the door, i have asked him again to not touch me, turned towards him and—
HE PUSHED ME HARD ON MY SHOULDERS OUTSIDE OF VENUE, MADE ME LOSE MY BALANCE AND FALL ON MY BACK, HITTING MY BACK AND LOSING MY PRESCRIPTION GLASSES.
I have spent many years living in San Francisco and traveling the world and never had such situation at any venue. I was afraid for my life.
I had to call 911, the very polite duo of police officers arrived and helped me to fetch my item. My head, neck and shoulders hurt for next two days. I am at complete loss to this antisocial, hostile and likely illegal behavior.
I wish i can tip the kitchen staff. The food was...
Read moreThis is a hard review to write. I’ll start off with what I loved. I heard so many great things and the setting did not disappoint — the tables to the plants were so well thought out.
I was just disappointed in how my friend and I were treated at the bar. We had ordered two wine glasses — no problem there. When we had ordered our second round we waited over 15 minutes and ended up going to the bar to ask. We were met with suspicious looks in response to us informing the staff that we never received our drinks. “We give it to you when you order.” We looked at the tender expecting more of a response but instead were met with a look of “are you trying to cheat us into another round?” I was really disappointed — if you’re so adamant about giving drinks right when the customer orders, why didn’t it happen with us? Did you instead give it to someone else — possibly a non-customer?
Furthermore my friend and I had to ask a separate staff member about our bruschetta which took over 20 minutes to arrive. The same tender who questioned our request for the drinks we had paid for, quickly realized she had forgotten about our shared meal as well. We clearly were forgotten and not considered. I’m absolutely willing to believe it was just miscommunication but the double whammy made it stick a little too much. Anna on the other hand was very...
Read moreI’m really sad to report that the service here is horrible. I used to love this bar; however, the bartenders tonight made me not want to come back. I was incorrectly charged for a charcuterie board and another glass of wine and I noticed a couple hours later when I looked at my itemized receipt. I went back to the bar and the bartender working, Taylor, tried to tell me I had bought those items. I told her no one in my party had purchased that I was the only one who bought for my group (2 bottles of wine and two apps). She was giving me pushback about getting the $50 back that I was incorrectly charged for and trying to say someone in my group charged my card. She even pointed to one of my friends saying she is the one that charged the card (this friend didn’t even show up until an hour after we were at the bar and I think I would have noticed my friend eating a cheeseboard in front of me). Taylor was so unprofessional and condescending. I’m shocked she has a job still. I unfortunately won’t be back to this place after they tried to tell me I was lying and keep my money. Luckily another bartender stepped in and refunded the money. Otherwise, at least this place has nice decor going for them. Service is...
