I haven’t seen the new owner again, otherwise I would have communicated to him my feedback. I used to enjoy coming here not only because this is where I get my Peruvian products to make special dinners for friends and loved ones, but also felt nice seeing Latin people from all over getting their products as well. The customer service is definitely something that makes me feel a little embarrassed. Usually Latin people are known to be helpful, friendly and warm. At least this is how I feel when I go home or visit other Latin countries. A woman that’s usually on the counter at checkout has probably never smiled at me. A while back I had an order to make a Mexican dish and when I noticed the meat wasn’t as well marinated as usually, I mentioned it her. Long story short, after feeling like I was being treated poorly, I finally decided to tell her I would call the owner. She couldn’t be less bothered. Today, they had the music blasting so loud it was painful to my ears. They had super loud music in the back and a different type of Latin music on the front part. My right ear is still ringing. Small market which is not a bad market for Peruvian products. Their frozen selection is good: they carry frozen aji, frozen choclo, frozen papa amarilla, frozen chirimolla. Their non-frozen selection is a bit more limited (did not see Tari for example). They also carry Peruvian chorizo and salchicha Huachana which I have not seen in other markets (hidden gems). The best market to get fresh produce and meat on Mission Street! The store is very clean with a large selection of Peruvian and Colombian products. The meat department is well-stocked with high quality beef, chicken, pork, and fish. I come here every week to pick up some Angus steak to grill for my family.
