My gf and I were excited to try this bakery but it was a pretty poor experience. My gf tried to tap her phone to pay but the machine wasn’t responding. She tried to tap over and over, while the worker just stood there watching. I asked if there was anything she could do to help the machine complete the transaction, and she begrudgingly adjusted it while another worker came over to apologize, noting that it’s generally finicky. The first worker seemed annoyed by our presence.

We ordered a boozy bread pudding, which turned out to be very good but cold, and when we asked the same worker from above if she could warm it up, they acted annoyed and said that they don’t warm up bakery items. The BLT on a pretzel roll was underwhelming, with too much roll and not enough BL or T. The pizza slice was good but wasn’t hot. My gf ordered a chai tea latte which was really watery. Black Jet Baking Co. offers a great selection of pastries. There is usually a short line but service was quick and friendly, and prices are reasonable. I have tried the following items:

The egg, ham and cheese breakfast sandwich was a little disappointing. I wish that it was served hotter (it was just warm) and the eggs are freshly cooked instead of a scramble patty. The everything snail tasted delicious with rich and savory flavor, although I barely saw any cream cheese that it was supposed to be stuffed with. The chocolate twist has basically the croissant texture but in a funky shape. It was quite good. The cheese in the ham and cheese croissant is hard and dry but the croissant texture is pretty good just like the chocolate twist.

We ADORE Black Jet Baking Co! We live right up the street and frequent Black Jet nearly every weekend. You honestly can't go wrong with anything on their menu. We love their breakfast sandwiches, croissants, quiches, and fruit tarts and were HUGE fans of their strata and hope it returns (weekends only, temporarily off the menu since they re-opened in a limited capacity post-COVID).

We love Black Jet so much, we also had them make our wedding cake this year! After deciding to postpone our big wedding to 2021 due to COVID, we eloped at the SF Botanical Gardens and knew immediately that we should order our cake from Black Jet for our small backyard reception.
