Daaaang. First time here today, rolling up 45 minutes before they closed this Sunday, having dragged my husband along with the siren call of Tacoooos! On the way there, he said he was just going to get a drink as he already had a big breakfast after a 5K run with a friend -- but he could not resist, and got himself a shrimp taco which he promptly inhaled after the friendly husband of the husband and wife owner super duo dropped off the hot creations of his wife who was manning the grill -- props all around for the genuine warmth of service from them both! Plus also the enthusiasm from the sweet blond spiky-haired waitress who was hustling to get orders in.
I got 2 tacos -- the Quesabirria and the Veggie. The Quesabirria was MIND-BLOWING, the perfect spicy combo of beef and cheese, OMG. My cardiologist would for sure wag a finger at me, but sometimes, you just have to follow your passions ;-) I also balanced that beefy cheesiness with a lighter, delicious, fresh vegetable taco, with zucchini and yellow squash and other friendly vegs which escape my memory. For a drink, their Aqua Fresca of the day (Watermelon) which was a gorgeous pink, not too sweet, and very refreshing. Perfect afternoon to sit at one of their cute yellow tables outside in the sun and embrace your inner taco-loving beast.
Side note on the sides: their sauces and their chips are ROCKING. Thank God there were just a modest amount of 4 hefty chips served with my 2 tacos, because I might have exploded otherwise. It was plenty of food!
Next up on my list, those Super Frankie Nachos, topped with duck (or other proteins or vegs of your choice)... In my...
Read moreWhat a neighborhood gem! I always have a great experience here.
Parking is plentiful and the Muni line is right across the street.
The interior very clean and has a good amount of seating with regular tables and bench seating inside. The menu has a great variety of food that you would expect from any taqueria, and priced appropriately.
I haven’t had everything on the menu, but I have loved everything I ever ordered. Everything was fresh.
On this visit, I started with chips with guac and salsa. Chip was firm and crispy to hold the chunky guac and salsa.
The tacos were full of spicy chicken and the meat was juicy and had plenty for my taste buds. The side of beans and rice complemented the tacos just as they should.
On top of all of this; there are the great people that own the restaurant and provide service that only a loving family member can give. They are so welcoming, appreciative, and take so much pride in their work.
Their instagram and website has updated hours, so I would check there first before making plans.
Looking forward to upcoming visits to try everything that Frank Grizzlies...
Read moreFlew to San fran for a work trip… was EXTREMELY dissapointed, this is what you call mexican food??? A disgrace to all my hermanos and hermanas, this was like someone trying to “assume” what mexican food was. The WRONG ingredients in the Quesabirria (no one uses cheddar) and just such a horrible take on mexican food. Owners should reconsider where they got their recipes because the ones they have are NOT it, and from what it seems, it looks like they can’t handle any negative reviews before their egos get hurt due to them spamming the same message about having a “personal vendetta” against them when it comes to a negative review lol. Dont know anyone there and Godwillingly will never, a disrespect to the culture. (PS. They also took over an hour making my friends Appetizer,...
