This is one of my (if not my absolute) favourite filipino restaurants in SF. I came across it pretty much by accident when I was looking for filipino food, not having heard of it beforel It's located in TL which isn't the greatest, but it's not a deal breaker (plus, if the location was really an issue for you, they're available on some food delivery platforms). Upon entering, it already felt "familiar" in a way that other filipino restaurants in SF didn't. It felt homey and the staff were friendly and kinda reminded me of my aunties; they were helpful too, especially when they (probably) saw the overwhelmed look on my and my bf's faces when seeing the lengthy menu. Eventually (and multiple times since that first visit) I settled on the tapsilog and it has become one of my favourite things to get here... that, and the lumpia. Can't argue with the classics ;) The last time I was here, I brought some of my filipina friends with me and they liked the food too, especially...

The food quality is exceptional - every dish is bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the classic pork adobo and the crispy pata which are both cooked to perfection. But the best part? The affordable price! You can enjoy a feast with your family and friends without breaking the bank.
Cusina ni Tess is truly a hidden gem, and I cannot recommend it enough. If you are in the area, make sure to stop by and indulge in the mouth-watering food. Trust me, you won't regret it! So, what are you waiting for? Head to Cusina ni Tess and experience a taste of the Philippines...
Read moreThere aren't a lot of Filipino restaurants in the city that I like. With a decent population of Filipinos, you would think there would be more options, but there isn't. I often have to venture out. But Kusina Ni Tess is one of my downtown spots when I need my fix. It's a cheap turo-turo place. Turo-turo literally means "point-point". Obviously, you point at the food you want. But I mean you can still talk and ask questions, as most people there speak English.
They have a good deal for about $7-8 bucks for a two item meal with rice. You can also ask for a free side of sabow (soup broth, usually nilaga or sinigang broth). I like the adobos and the paksiws. I usually come here with my boyfriend, and that two item meal ends up being enough for the both of us. $7-8 for two people? Sheeet....
