I’m Tiaga Nidhan and I'm here to tell you about my experience at Powell Station. It was a terrible experience, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
I was in San Francisco for a speaking engagement, and I decided to take the BART to the event. I arrived at Powell Station and was immediately overwhelmed by the crowds. There were people everywhere, and it was difficult to move.
The station was dirty and crowded. There was trash on the ground, and the air was thick with the smell of sweat and urine. I saw people sleeping on the ground, and I saw people begging for money.
I finally found my way to the BART platform, and I was relieved to see that the trains were running on time. However, the train was packed with people, and I had to stand in the aisle.
The train ride was long and uncomfortable. The train was hot and crowded, and I was constantly jostled by other passengers.
I finally arrived at my stop, and I was glad to get off the train. However, I was still not out of the woods. I had to walk through a maze of tunnels to get to the exit, and I was constantly dodging people and obstacles.
I finally made it out of the station, and I was exhausted. I had never had such a bad experience at a train station. I would not recommend Powell Station to anyone.
In addition to the problems I mentioned above, Powell Station is also a major hub for crime and homelessness. The station is often crowded with people who are intoxicated or high, and there have been reports of assaults, robberies, and even murders in the area.
If you are planning to travel to San Francisco, I would recommend avoiding Powell Station altogether. There are other, safer train stations in the city, such as Montgomery Station and Embarcadero Station.
I am disappointed that Powell Station has become such a dangerous and unpleasant place. I hope that the city of San Francisco will take steps to address the problems at the station. Until then, I will not be using Powell...
Read moreI have been using Bart for about year, I had no issues. But Dec. 2021, I got off at Powell like I have done many times, my husband meets me every day, . That day my husband met me closer and I was going to exit a different way, but my card wouldn't let me, that happens when Millbrea doest not charge due to rain?? But either way we pay. That day I walked to the front and tried to exit but it read see agent, as turned around to walk to an agent, this man slapped the right side of my face,, I screamed for my husband,, who was close by, he came running over, I told him that that man slapped me, my husband approached the man who started to swing his umbrella, I called my husband over, and told him I just want to go home, I was just shocked, and never excepted this could happen. It was very busy, I felt like your on your own, and no one was there to help. We started to walk, I noticed the Bart Police started to approach us I believe there were 4 officers, they asked what happened....the reason I am sharing this story is it was a wake up call for me, to always stay alert, and travel light. Be aware of your surroundings always. Stay behind the yellow line. If I travel with my service animals keep them close as well. My hope is that Bart has security that travel the trains, and are at the exits and entrances. It's scarey when a person who for whatever reason starts yelling, throwing things, you can only stay calm and make no eye contact. But you have no idea what will take place. It's scarey I know that feeling safe is what...
Read moreI last visited SF 2 years ago, the only unhelpful person I encountered during the whole trip was a BART employee at Powell Street station and this time was no different. I'm a tourist, I have travelled all over the world and from time to time I have to ask questions, this guy was not only unhelpful but he was a jerk. He was a jerk to the person who was asking questions before me; A local who was asking for clarification on how much he needed to pay to get to X. He wasn't much more help to me and a jerk to the lady after me who was struggling to understand the ticket buying system. I'm sorry he was to deal with the same questions over and over again but thats how it goes. As I see it one of he functions is to help the traveller but he made it quite clear that he didn't want to do that, he wanted to get back into his ticket office and chat with his buddy. BART improve on the signage, make the ticket system easier to understand and get rid...
