Little Original Joe's — Restaurant in San Francisco

The food is good, but ordering and collecting food is a horrible experience.

We ordered via their website (they use DoorDash to process), and were given a pickup time of 6:56, but waited an additional 35 minutes for one pasta dish to be cooked, while our pizza sat under the warmer getting soggy. While waiting, we stood getting jostled and elbowed by the crowd of people who were equally frustrated with the delay. At least 3 staff tried to help us, but no one could figure it out, and one of them even tried to blame us for “using Door Dash” when that is the default processor on the restaurant’s own website! Meanwhile, we watched one staff member taking tickets out of queue and changing the order of tickets for the kitchen staff, which only worsened the situation for everyone.

Finally we got our food late, with a chunk of pork on the vegetarian pizza that my HINDU in-laws wanted to eat.

Look, the food is usually great, and we would happily wait 90 minutes on busy nights for our order if they could just tell us when we ACTUALLY needed to be there to pick it up. Instead, Little Original Joe’s unnecessarily causes congestion both on the street outside and in the tiny lobby area, because they just can’t manage their own systems...

Great pizza but terrible service.

I’ve ordered delivery from here before and really enjoyed the pizza. However, my experience with picking up an order today was extremely frustrating.

I arrived at the designated pickup time, but 15 minutes later, my order was still not ready. To make matters worse, there were 16 (!) other people crammed shoulder-to-shoulder in a very small waiting area. I had to ask the staff multiple times for an update, and when I finally got their attention, they had to scroll 10-15 orders down to locate mine! They couldn’t provide me with an estimate on how much longer it would take, and the staff seemed overwhelmed by the chaos. I decided to cancel my order, and left feeling quite frustrated.

In hindsight, I remember DoorDash drivers having long wait times when picking up my previous delivery orders—and now I see why.

I really don’t understand why they set pickup times that they can't meet, or why they continue accepting orders when they’re clearly at or over capacity. It’s a shame, because the food is great, but the disorganization really takes away from the...
