Jin dobre! Do i really want to rate and promote this place, so that You, the other Non Polish Person may possibly be influenced to come, and take up even more time and space from the actual Polish grandmas that just want to come for their regular shopping, get some bread and a little something for the week, and not have wait for some another Non-Polish Person who doesnt know how to pronounce anything and asks what is everything, and has more questions about everything, and orders too much of everything and is always holding up the line for everyone who always shows up right after?
Because then they will probably be more annoyed looking at me. And I may have to cut my order short, go around the block and try again to get what I want.
Seriously though, the staff are always super nice and friendly. And I dont know if granny is really annoyed-- it may just be her stoic face, a lines engraved by experiences that I couldn't imagine-- especially if she really came from Poland pre 90s. I did see some crazy lines there in '87 just before the commies got the boot.
But the charcuterie here is epic. Its something old world that you don't get anywhere else. Some of the best smoked sausages I have had. Liverwurst. Smoke rib bacon. Head cheese, sausage loaf, and so much more.
I also love their assortment of spicy ketchup.
Maybe they should have special shopping hours for NPPs? Kind of like tourist dining hour (anything before 8) in Spain and Portugal...
But yeah just try not to come to often and cut into my...
Read moreIf I could give this deli a million stars I would. My mom, who immigrated here from Poland passed away March 5th. This was our favorite deli and my mom absolutely loved their sausages, food, and desserts, stating this was the place that tasted like home, no where else in California had as delicious authentic cuisine, and I do have to agree. When I contacted Jerry asking if he could possibly reserve some desserts for me to bring to my mom's service he happily offered to, took my order down, and helped me bring it to my car when it was ready in the pouring rain. He was hospitable, and genuine and brought so much joy and comfort to my family with his wonderful demeanor and delicious food. Jerry went the extra mile for us and it was truly appreciated. All the attendees to my moms service filled their to go bags, and loved the desserts. My mom would have been so delighted to see everyone so happy. Her and I loved cooking Polish cuisine, and my family from Poland was so happy to hear that we also had an authentic Polish dinner after the service, consisting of the pierogi, pyzy, keilbasa, pickled herring from the deli, and many other side dishes I made. Wonderful wonderful, thank you for making it possible to send my mom off to heaven in such a way as to celebrate and honor her Polish heritage and share it with others....
Read moreA Polish friend of mine complained about them being rude. I thought they just didnât get along because I knew that the salesperson was usually somewhat curt. âAt least they have good meats!â, I thought. But today I experienced it first hand. They had a sign saying they had bigos and I asked about it. The man bluntly said they didnât have any. Trying to be friendly I said that it was ok and then I hear: âIf itâs ok, why do you ask? You like wasting your time?â It sounded very strange but misunderstandings happen so I brushed it off without answering. But my next question resulted in even a bigger awkwardness. I donât think I provoked it in any way. I donât think itâs a simple lack of social skills, the man obviously enjoys being offensive. I am not an over sensitive person but it wasnât the first time and today they definitely lost two more customers of many years⊠in addition to my Polish friend. I checked their reviews and see that people generally donât like leaving negative commentsâit is understandableâbut the few negative reviews are supported by more people. So, I am not just a single disgruntled customer. I donât recommend this business or simply buy their stuff without talking to them. Their sausage isnât worth the trouble. There is plenty of great...
