Stable Cafe — Restaurant in San Francisco

Went in to grab a coffee and some lunch, encountered a coffee barista thats worse than a methhead having a bad day. While waiting in line to place an order, the employee became frustrated and started shouting that his previous customer hadn't picked up his coffee. He complained it was getting cold.

Unfortunately, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time as he thought it was mine, though I hadn't placed my order. I motioned to him that it wasn't mine and I explained I hadn't placed an order yet.

While talking with the polite cashier, He hovered inches from my face listening to the order. I ordered a cappuccino, and he slammed to cold latte in-front of me and said "THERE YOU GO!!". I casually told the cashier I was looking for a cappuccino and a sandwich to go, and he dumped it out.

In his frustration he made a cappuccino in a regular cup "not to go". I asked him for it "to go". He told me I could drink my coffee and when I wanted it "to go", I could come back, get in line, wait, and get the remainder poured into a to-go cup. I explained that wasn't what I'd like to do, I'd really just like my correct order "to-go". He made faces at me, and I asked for his manager.

He refused to get his manager.

Upon leaving I asked again with a different employee for the manager, as I left he was shouting across the restaurant "WHAT YOU WONT EVEN TALK TO ME!?!?!?" and followed me down the street to complain at me.

This guy was on some serious drugs, the manage (Francisco) offered me a free lunch on him for the trouble.

I don't recommend going here if you're looking for a chill atmosphere, this barista...

We just had our wedding yesterday and wanted to write this review while it’s still fresh in our minds. This was the perfect venue for us. We had 80 guests who all remarked on what a beautiful and perfect venue space it was. Karen made the night flow so smoothly - from the ceremony transitioning to the cocktail hour transitioning to the reception. There wasn’t any detail left missing. Karen and the team also kindly accommodated our requests to add some sake based mixed drinks, specific bread options, and serving of a roast pig (which we sourced from an outside vendor).

Now the food - that was exceptional. My partner and I take well cooked and well seasoned food very seriously. We wanted the food to be the main focus of the venue and Stable Cafe went above and beyond to deliver. I knew it would be good when reviewing the menu options. The ingredients were sourced by Chefs Guillermo and Najla at the local farmers market earlier that week. Everything was prepared with such care and love. It was all consistent and well cooked throughout the guest tables and our couples plates were delicious. As part of the summer menu, we went with the elote salad, melon cucumber salad, roasted potatoes for appetizers. The elote salad got the most mentions of the night. We went with the steak and fish for the mains (incredible cooking time - the fish was fresh and delicate, the steak was a perfect medium rare). Such a difficult thing to do for large parties. The experience in cooking really shows.

We held our wedding at Stable Cafe in August 2025 and so highly recommend this space. After seeing the location online and eating in the cafe, we knew this was where we wanted to hold our wedding. It felt so cozy, lush and green, like an oasis in the middle of the city. Karen was very responsive to our inquiries and answered all the questions we had throughout the process. Wedding planning can be overwhelming and my husband and I are not seasoned event planners, and Karen made the process easy and as low-key as possible.

We had 45 guests and had a ceremony, dinner, and dancing, which was a perfect size for the space. We used their bar service and in-house catering for appetizers and dinner and OH. MY. GOSH. This was not just good wedding food. It was incredible food, period! Everything was fresh and made with so much care. They even made a plate specifically for a vegetarian guest, and made one up for me that accommodated all my dietary restrictions. I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to be able to eat the same thing as all the guests and enjoy such a beautiful dinner. The entire time we were eating, my husband and I kept looking at each other in disbelief and saying, Can you believe the food is THIS good??
