I went in with some friends after Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. The food was good and our server was sweet. However, I ordered the carnitas flautas with no dairy, as I am allergic. They came out stuffed with meat and cheese, so I informed my server. She took the dish back and let me know that the flauta’s filling must have cheese. No biggie, so I ordered the carnitas tacos. By the time the rest of our party had nearly finished their food, my boyfriend’s food was still not out, so I let my server know. Keep in mind I had to get up both times and go to the server. A little frustrated at this point, but understanding as it was a busy Friday and they were nearing closing. We paid the check and left, and even left a nice tip despite the errors and long wait times, but I noticed the next day that the $20 flautas were still on our bill, even though no one ate them and they were returned to the kitchen. I know mistakes happen and was not upset at all until I called and explained the situation. I was told they needed to go somewhere they could hear better and proceeded to get put on hold for 20 minutes just to then get a “Hello!” — in a voice that seemed to be making fun of me — and then hung up on. I felt so disrespected and like my time was so wasted. Another party member tried to call them the following day and left a voicemail just to never hear back. Such a bummer. This experience has left me feeling very disrespected and ignored. I won’t...
Read moreShort menu, bland food. I kept flipping to see if there were more food items on it somewhere else, but nope. The food we got was under-seasoned and not really recognizable as the dishes we supposedly were being served. We ordered the machete with carnitas, the elote, and the picadillo de carne tacos. The machete was decent, if short on flavor. The carnitas were tender but not recognizable as carnitas: I just got a slow cooked meat, not really any of the tangy caramel notes that are characteristic of carnitas. The elote…well, I’m not sure how they can call that elote: it was corn on the cob rolled in cheese. No mayonnaise, no chili, no lime except the little lime wedges we squeezed onto it. The picadillo was especially disappointing for me: it tasted like the ground beef tacos you had at taco night at home somewhere in Wisconsin in the 90s. Got the sense the meat MIGHT have been seasoned, but mostly all you tasted was ground beef and lettuce. Pickled veggies lacked any tang to stand up on their own against the beef grease. I couldn’t finish more than one of my tacos; my partner finished the second and agreed. We are definitely not going back.
Atmosphere: loud. Standard trendy restaurant with a lot of tables elbow to elbow and no soft surfaces to absorb noise.
Service: functional! We got food, we got drink, we paid, we left, without any complications or negative or positive service...
Read moreWe went for the first time tonight. The food was average, but what we had a problem with was the service. The bartender was our server, and I don't know if it's because we appear young or because of our race, but the bartender checked up on every other customer at the bar except us. He did not check on us a single time after taking our order. We were there for a pretty long time too. Because he didn’t check up on us, not even a single time even though we waited a long time, we had to wave him down to ask for a couple of waters. We then waited for another long period of time, but the bartender was too busy drinking something with other associates in the corner of the bar, facing away from the customers. We can’t be positive it was alcohol, but it looked like a mixed drink. Then after drinking, he checked up on other customers except us, so we had to ask him again for our waters. He then tried to move on with a sarcastic joke while finally giving us our waters. We think he definitely needs some basic bartending training again. If you were drinking or if you’re going to drink on the clock, at least make sure your customers are taken care of. Do not discriminate against or dislike specific customers obviously. If you say you weren’t discriminating, at least check up on your customers once. Especially if you have the time to check on every other customer constantly. (It was a...
