It's really terrible that the service here is the worst of any restaurant that I have ever experienced in San Francisco, since the food is delicious. It has seriously gone down hill since it first opened. I used to recommend this place, as well as Mosto, to all of my friends, but never again. My last experience was extremely terrible and I was given a gift card as compensation for that horrendous service. Well, I tried to redeem that gift card this evening and upon entering was completely ignored by the bartender. The music was at an extremely annoyingly loud level that when I called out to the bartender, who turned his back to us after seeing us sit down, he either didn't or couldn't hear, or just completely ignored us. I yelled out, "Hello!," and he continued to ignore us, then said that he refused to serve us, then continued to ignore us further. I will never return to this place and I will continue to be extremely vocal to anyone and everyone that this place needs to go out of business unless they improve their service. There are too many fine establishments in San Francisco to put up with rude service for some trendy hipster trash like this. This place is a pure example of the attitude that is destroying everything that was once great about San Francisco. Avoid Mosto and Tacolicious at all costs. La Oaxaqueña on Mission near 17th sells way better tacos with a friendly atmosphere for a fraction...
Read moreI was super excited to try Tacolicious since I was visiting and our friend had been hyping it up. The vibe was honestly really nice, moody lighting, good music, felt like a cute spot to catch up and hang out. But that was pretty much the highlight for me.
The prices felt... unrealistic. $15 for two tiny tacos?? In this economy? Absolutely not. I wouldn’t have minded paying that if the flavors were there, but the meat just didn’t hit. And trust me, I know my Mexican food. It was giving... underwhelming.
If you're just looking for a cute place to sit and snack, maybe it works. But if you’re hungry or looking for actual good tacos, I’d say skip it. There are way better spots just a few blocks away that are more local, more flavorful, and way more worth it.
The service was great, I’ll give them that; the staff was super friendly and attentive. I just wish the food matched the energy. Felt like it was definitely catered more toward white folks (which made up most of the people dining in), not people who actually grew up eating tacos.
Wouldn’t come back, but the area is nice to walk around after, so...

I bought from their tent at one of the Valencia Night Markets. What was supposed to be $10 set of tacos + sales tax (8.75%) = $10.88 ended up being $11.57 ($10 + 15.7% tax). I told the cashier about the up charge and he dismissed it as tax but the numbers don't add up. I didn't get to see the breakdown of the bill either.
Also the server shoo-ed us away from the outdoor seating without a word even though we had bought from their tent booth and there were plenty of empty seats. I presume he wanted to save the seats to make money off of tips or perhaps it was a restaurant policy. Regardless of whose fault to blame, that behavior runs counter the spirit of the Valencia Night Markets - to bring the community together across social dividers such as wealth.
All in all, this experience with Tacolicious left a sour taste in my mouth. I will not be returning due to hidden surcharges and dismissive, bordering on...
