We had some nice wine in mason jars with lids (creative). They sat us on a dirty table, waitress was ignoring us, walking by us a few times. Asked hostess to send our waitress. Waitress shows up, no greeting, not happy, takes our order, leaves. Waitress never gave us the water we ordered, then came back like in 10 min (no water in hand) and said we needed to take the food to go and that they needed to take the tables off the street (why did they seat us there and take our order in the first place?). No apology, no options, food to go! So, I went inside, voiced my displeasure, I negotiated a new table closer to the front door, but still couldn't get the waitress, finally entered the place and asked (3rd time for water), food arrived and was good (met the cook on the sidewalk - nice guy, nice hostess also, helpful/friendly. She's the one that actually got us some water), bad note: cockroaches were running around in sitting area - lost my appetite. Won't be going back.
Response to your response 9/1/20: This complaint is not about mason jars. When we walked up to get a table, none were available, we put our name on the wait list and went inside to get a drink while we waited, they served us our wine in mason jars, we stood outside and drank our wine waiting for a table. The only reason we ordered wine from inside was because no table was ready. We went there to eat, we didn't change our minds from TO GO to dine in seat ourselves. We were seated by your hostess for dinner with menus. The service was bad/rude and no options were given, we were just told we had to take our food to go. Your waitress could have handled this situation so much better. I'd suggest in the future having the manager on duty handle the delicate...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite wine bars in the city. I've been all over. North Beach. FiDi. Castro. But Etcetera wine bar tops any.
The selection of wine is fantastic. Choose a region. They have them all. Don't know what you like? They'll guide you through it.
Hungry? Cheese and meat plates with pairing. Dinner menu? Yeah sure. It's amazing.
Music: fun and trendy. You know that funky fun hipster Spotify playlist you secretly love? That's what they play. And it's totally awesome.
Atmosphere: not loud. Mellow. You can go on a first date. Fiftieth date. You can still talk and hear everything. The people in here are fun and trendy. Very social and friendly crowd.
Wine: on point. They know what they are doing. And keep you guessing with fun varieties.
Service: I've been here twice and my bartender remembers me, what I like, and my life story. She's fantastic. The other bartenders I've had have been awesome and fun. It's a group of cool kids that love their job and know what they are doing. Not to mention it's a very attractive staff.
All in all: great bar. Great staff. Great wine. Great food. No cons. Enjoy your experience here. It's a fun, fresh, funky experience. Don't come in expecting fine dining. This isn't the spot. But for a hip place to grab a glass, Etcetera...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about the place. Has a cool atmosphere, guys playing accordion and guitar outside were fun and talented, it added up to the environment. I have no complaints on wine or drinks selection, however, I was not pleased by the service and food experience was disappointing. First we had a cheese platter, which came quickly and it was alright, then we procceeded to order more substantial food and went for the Galician pizza. It took a LONG time for us to get it. After waiting at least 30 (if not more) minutes for it, we decided to go seat inside because it was chilly, then in 5 minutes or so the pizza arrived and it was cold! COLD! I wonder if it was left seating somewhere waiting for it to be picked it up because there is no other explanation. It was yes tasty, crust was good and well made but... cold! Its not a filling pizza, so don't expect to be satisfied after eating it because you won't. The server attitude was not the best as when credit card was handed for payment he said: "thanks, good it saves time for myself". It just felt very unwelcoming to hear that after eating cold pizza we waited 30+ minutes for. I could go back to Etcetera as places have their good and bad days, but hope to get better service next time. For the price tag I...
