We celebrated my partner's birthday here and combined it with seeing Fleetwood Macrame. Total success. The staff here were super flexible, prices super reasonable, and the vibe was super chill.
First, the core team ate at Curio. Great meal in a super cool setting. Then, the staff dressed up the Private Dining Room super elegantly. Pro tip - bring your own LED candles and 3-5 flower arrangements to make the room sparkle.
We started the bday festivities with their apps - so good. Then we brought in our own cake, and they were super on it with plateware, forks, etc. Also had them pour their bubbly, which was a Spanish Cava was really good and super elegant in champagne flutes.
The staff made sure empty glasses & plates were bussed right away and it was a quality operation. Our guests also bought tix for the show, so they drifted in and out of the concert to the equally elegant bar or dining room for conversation and really solid drinks from the bar throughout the night.
Overall, all the rooms have incredible charm, the staff are super excellent (and you know that from the positive way they all work together - such a good vibe staff!), food is solid, drinks are excellent and the intimate music scene in the Chapel itself is unbeatable.
Hope these folks keep on keeping on for a very long time - a very...
Read moreI went to the Chapel with my partner and two wonderful friends on Valentine's Day this year. We even had reservations.... granted it was a very very very very crowded night. The server took so very long to bring the menus and did not take our orders for nearly 35 minutes. Service - neglectful. We placed our orders and decided to wait for the food to come out - looked as though the other patrons were receiving their food in a timely and efficient manner. For some reason, our orders took a very long time to prepare - sooooo very very very long in fact, that our friends had to have their food packed in to-go boxes and they rushed out in time to make it on time for their other Valentine's Day events punctually. Due to the tardiness of the food and the extremely sloooooooow service, the manager comped the alcoholic beverages AND two of the entrees (our friends' dinner meals). The food was tasty and I would rate the quality of the entrees 3 out of 5. Service was not even 0.5 stars - but the management and the food made up for the less than stellar Valentine's meal. Lesson learned - make Valentine's Day reservations for places that are known to provide good service AND good food on special couples nights in...
Read moreLocated in Mission District in hipster central, Valencia Street, The Chapel is one of my favorite new spots in the city. Not only a bar, but a music venue.
The Chapel just opened up recently and has already hosted big names, like Grouplove and Dave Chapel, as well as numerous smaller acts that I love.
The Chapel's bar is open to the public, so a ticket is not required. You can either grab a drink before the show or just stay there all night.
The stage area is pretty small, relative to larger venues, but The Chapel mainly hosts indie and upcoming artists. I caught one of my favorite bands, Widowspeak, and got to meet the band. While the venue isn't huge, I prefer that I can get close and intimate with the music. I can actually see the artists.
The tickets are affordable, there music acts are amazing, the bar is a cool spot, and the location is very convenient. What more can I ask for?
The Chapel is a great place for dates, drinks, catching a great show, or just hanging out. I highly recommend catching a show at The Chapel!
