Fantastic neighborhood wine shop serving the West Portal/Forest Hill/Parkside/Golden Gate Heights area.

They carry a great selection of wines from around the world, with an excellent selection in the $20 and under range for those looking for a more affordable selection. The staff are friendly and knowledgable. SFWTC has a small selection of cheese, liquors (many batch distilled), and beers for people wanting to round out their wine purchases.

Tastings are a highlight here. These $10 events on Saturdays and Sundays offer a chance to hang out and try new wines. They frequently have free treats--one of the highlights in the past was excellent paella made just outside the shop. I've bought quite a few wines after being turned onto them at the tastings.

With a one-two stop at Guerra Meats and SFWTC, my picnic or home-based happy hour is complete!

I have long collected Dominus wine and, several years ago, just before its release, I ordered a half case of 2013 Dominus on pre-arrival from SFWTC.

When the wine arrived at SFWTC, they had oversold the wine and did not honor my pre-arrival purchase. Of course, between the time of my order and its arrival, the 2013 Dominus got triple 100-point reviews, so its value had nearly doubled.

I was a long time SFWTC customer and I appealed to the manager, who told me he was sorry but they couldn't get any more at the pre-arrival price, so I would need to pay more or just accept a refund. He said the guy who took my order (who had a French accent) had made a mistake.

Do not trust these guys! They are cheats.

This is a really good business, well operated and great service. The people that work here really care about making sure you are pleased with their service. My 1st order wasn’t complete, but it may have had more to do with the way I ordered being my 1st time navigating their site. When I called they picked right up and put me in touch with a very helpful member of their staff who got right on it and actually air freighted my item along with another order I placed, at their expense and I didn’t even ask.
