Almost walked out because didn't receive service or even tea or water within almost ten minutes of being seated. Bustling carry out service, but only half full restaurant. Waitress came over after minute nine to take my order, so I stayed. Still no water. Had to create my own place setting. Tea came out with a bang on the table. Waitress had to come back because she forgot what I ordered. Ordered an appetizer and a third of it was cold/frozen/(uncooked?) so I alerted the staff. They brought it back and it was obviously microwaved even though it was supposed to be steamed. Ordered two dishes that were indicated as spicy on the menu. One came very sweet and mostly breading (menu said fried, I wasn't expecting breading), the other had this weird Thai-Mexican mixture of flavors, but at least it had a savory flavor. Waitress never asked me for my spicy level preference, so I assumed they would've been regular spice. Ordered rice, didn't come until I asked for it. Never received water, even though I asked for it when I ordered my meal. Asked for to go boxes (to give leftovers to homeless) with four dishes remaining (microwaved appetizer, rice, two entrees), and was only brought two. Asked for two more. Waitress looked at my table full of four distinct dishes and asked why? Seriously?! Because I have four dishes and need four to go boxes! Got the bill. Wasn't going to leave a tip, but I noticed the rice wasn't on it, so I left money to pay for the rice. I don't know how this place has almost four stars. I figured it would be semi elevated Chinese food, considering it's in rich West Portal which has some great restaurants, and Inner Parkside/Sunset are just around the corner where you can get authentic Chinese food. If you enjoy Chinese cuisine, save your time, money, and appetite, and walk the 20min or take the outbound L from West Portal and go to any of the multitude of Asian restaurants past 19th Ave on...
Read moreI asked to be called upon delivery. I received a call from the driver and I went to the door. The driver was not there. I waited 5 minutes because sometimes they call before they are actually there. After about 5 minutes I called the restaurant. The person over the phone said they will contact the driver. She lets me know that the food was delivered. I asked how that was possible given that Ive been waiting at my door for the last several minutes. She then called the driver again. She then informs me that soon after he called me, someone came to the door and picked up the food. I told her that it was impossible since I was in front of my door within seconds (i was playing a video game and needed to get back ASAP, so I ran to the front door for what I thought would be a brief exchange). She then tells me that my roommate must have picked it up. I told her I have no roommate and my landlords who live in the same building arent even home (only other people in the building). The entire ordeal over the phone had taken up to 15 minutes, so I lost my video game battle and completely wasted my time. I told her that I will cancel the order and I hung up. I received a phone call 2 minutes later from a different person at the restaurant. They only said "ummm, hold on". Again wasted my time, they couldn't even formulate a sentence at that point. I hung up again. I contacted EAT24 for a refund. After several back and forths, the agent at EAT24 got into contact with the restaurant and told me that the driver delivered to my address and called per my instructions. I told him that they did call but no delivery. I said they can say that all they want. I ultimately asked if I will be receiving a refund or not because at that point the EAT24 agent seemed to be on the restaurant's side and not the customer. The agent abruptly left the chat and I received a refund within moments. A complete...
Read moreThe food at this Chinese place is absolutely amazing, and part of what makes it so special is that it’s family-owned. You can really taste the care and tradition in every dish. It’s not just food that’s cooked quickly—it feels like recipes that have been passed down, made with the kind of love and detail you don’t always find at bigger chain restaurants.
The flavors are rich and comforting, with dishes that taste homemade but still full of restaurant-quality flavor. The dumplings are perfectly soft and flavorful, the stir-fried noodles are packed with fresh vegetables and just the right amount of seasoning, and the sauces taste authentic, not watered down. You can tell everything is prepared with pride.
Because it’s a family business, there’s also a warmth in the atmosphere. They treat customers like guests, not just orders. That combination—the welcoming family touch and the incredible food—makes the place stand out. It’s the kind of spot where once you eat there, you want to keep...
