I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zazie, and I must say, it was a truly remarkable experience. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was captivated by its charming ambiance and welcoming atmosphere.
However, I must mention that the restroom at Zazie was quite small and could benefit from a renovation. While it didn't detract from the overall experience, a more spacious and updated facility would undoubtedly enhance the comfort of patrons.
Now, let's talk about the highlight of my evening—the cocktails and the delightful menu. The Le Métro cocktail was an absolute standout, especially on a warm summer's night. Sipping on this refreshing concoction was like taking a journey through the streets of Paris. The combination of flavors was perfectly balanced, creating a delightful and invigorating taste experience.
Moving on to the culinary delights, the Figs Figaro was a flavorful dish that left me wanting more. The combination of fresh figs, artisanal cheese, and a drizzle of honey was a harmonious blend of sweet and savory. It was a true testament to Zazie's commitment to using quality ingredients that shine on the plate.
Now, let me tell you about the Le Canard—the star of the evening. This exquisite dish showcased Zazie's culinary prowess at its finest. The succulent duck, cooked to perfection, was tender and flavorful. The accompanying sauces and sides elevated the dish to new heights, creating a symphony of taste that left a lasting impression.
Throughout my dining experience, the attentive and knowledgeable staff at Zazie ensured that every detail was taken care of. From their warm greetings to their helpful recommendations, their professionalism was top-notch and added to the overall enjoyment of the evening.
In conclusion, despite the small restroom that could benefit from a renovation, Zazie provided a memorable dining experience that showcased their culinary expertise. The outstanding Le Métro cocktail and the flavorful Figs Figaro were definite highlights. However, it was the exquisite and tasty Le Canard that stole the show. Combined with the attentive service and charming ambiance, Zazie proved to be a destination where culinary delights and memorable experiences...
Read moreGotta say, didn't live up to the hype at all. Showed up on a monday and service was glacial. It took us almost 20 minutes after sitting down before our order was taken and then on top of that it took another 20 minutes before drinks came out. Even then they forgot a friend's drink and the waters we asked for. Then ANOTHER 20 minutes until food. It was busy but not packed (we had no wait to sit down). Willing to give this a pass though since every restaurant has their off days and it seemed like some kind of curveball was thrown their way on the shift.
Food averaged from "bad" to "decent". Croque Madame was one of the worst my partner had. It was basically just a ham sandwich with an egg on top, nothing like a true Croque madame. My eggs benedict was decent, but the hollandaise had no flavor. The worst part about the food though was the portions. Tiny tiny tiny!! Every one of us left hungry. Even the $5 coffee was tiny - poured in a tiny 8oz small mug, no refills.
I think the most disappointing thing though was the price. $28 for a standard 2 eggs benedict. I find it funny they even bother to offer a one egg option because it implies they know they're doing highway robbery. I love the no-tip initiative but it's incredibly obvious this place is exploiting inflation to drive up prices to insane levels beyond just no-tipping. Compared to a typical restaurant, it would be as if the eggs benedict was priced $22-23 which is nuts for the portions they give. You're clearly paying a huge premium for the reputation this place has and all you get out of it is a decidedly average, small portioned standard breakfast. So many better options in the city (i.e. Front Porch, Wooden Spoon, even Orphan Andy's) and all of these places are cheaper per person even counting tips/fees.
Overall, I'd not come back here. If the portion sizes were normal or if the food was genuinely transcendental I might stomach "most expensive breakfast...
Read moreI recollect peregrinating here in the past, and just like all the other reviews have mentioned; affirmative, the wait can be horrendous, so do come early and put your designation on the list. To be veracious, I generally prefer to be seated inside and away from the street traffic. There is patio seating, which I would not have minded that as well; my friend had spotted the "first come first accommodate" sign for the four tables situated just outside the front ingression. I personally do not relish to be visually examined while I am victualing, in additament to people perpetually bumping into our table. But other than that; Zazie is definitely a spot for anyone probing for brunch in San Francisco.
I would verbally express Zazie exudes rustic French bistro charm; aged wood paneling and green vines gives a feeling of a French chateau. The spot is facile to fine within the Cole Valley area and close by to the Golden Gate Park and Irving areas.
Victuals is fantastic and accommodation is vigilant here. Even while being seated alfresco with the diligent crowd of "vultures" as other reviews have compared the onlookers probing for a coveted table; servers ascertained we relished our aliment, dihydrogen monoxide was refilled and if we needed anything else.
This time around I opted for one of their eggs benedict offerings; divorcee with bacon, fontina cheese, and home fries - delectable. My friend culled one of the scrambled eggs options with spinach, mushrooms, and home fries - she relished and culminated the entire plate. To apportion we opted for the pain de mie french toast which was an impeccable saccharine treat after our savory dishes. For myself I injuctively authorized their fall coffee special; pumpkin latte, which came in a bowl - I relished the light touch of cinnamon and pumpkin flavor without inundating the coffee.
Come to Zazie's if you optate...
