It’s unfortunate that this store is one of a very few in SF who have quality European cheeses and meats. The quality of food is good but the service is just non-existent to say the least. The female staff (female-presenting) « helping » me is rude and conflict-provoking almost every single time I come. Acting like I’m lucky to be even sold their goods and raising her voice when I try to calculate how much cheese I need and take more than 3 seconds, seemingly unaware that her business hinges on people like me coming back there. Lady (or however you identify) you make sandwiches and cut meat, that attitude would be useful on a prison ground, not at a fancy deli spot. As someone who’s worked in customer service for years I’m shocked that they’re still in business. That lady(-presenting) belongs somewhere non-customer facing for sure. The gentleman working there was actually polite in contrast, but this was my 3d similar experience here and I don’t think he should carry the weight of his colleague’s incompetence and shortcomings. Going to look for another place that’s not so aggressively...

As as I walked in, a worker passed by me on the way to take his break I'd later learn. One of the staff, older than the other guys and with long hair, was upset that that worker went on break allegedly without saying anything. He yelled at the other two workers loudly complaining that he was saddled with all of the responsibilities and that no one helped him clean. He also reprimanded them harshly for changing the radio station, "Nobody has time to help me, but everyone has time to play DJ!"
It's understandable to get upset when you perceive that your coworkers are not pulling their weight, but to yell and swear loudly (F bombs and the like) while there are customers present is frankly unacceptable. I'll continue to shop here, and I give the food 4 stars, but that last visit made me really...
Read moreSo incredibly rude. My father passed away last night and I called to get a cheese platter for the family. On the catering page of their website it says, "Exceptions are possible in emergencies and we are eager to accommodate any special requests whenever possible." I told her my situation and request, the woman checked with her boss, and they took all of my info. Then the employee calls back telling me "boss says no" with the boss audibly feeding her lines in the background. They weren't compassionate or even polite delivering this information, lecturing me on how I should give them more...
