My bad review of this place was removed from Yelp by owner. Incredibly rude worker at this establishment. It’s a long story on what happened, but the basic sequence of events were as follows:

  1. A girlfriend of mine made reservations for 8 almost 2 months in advance. She was told that it’s reserved and there’s nothing further she needed to do.
  2. Our party of 8, including 1 toddler showed up for our reservation, a few girls showing up before others in the party. I showed up ~15 min later. The girls said that the restaurant didn’t consider our reservation confirmed and had already promised the spot to another large party. Ok, honest mistake and now a dilemma on our hands. No biggie.
  3. The girls were told that the restaurant is trying to figure things out and possibly rearrange us into the corner since it’s a rainy day, so we waited for them to give us directions.
  4. A gentleman from the other party came up to us and told us that they are the rightful party to be sitting. Ok, that’s a little unpleasant but no biggie. We’ll wait for the restaurant to instruct us on what to do.
  5. Waitress came along to take our order. We asked what we should do with the seating situation. The manager came along and said: ā€œWELL, YOU GIRLS WOULDN’T LEAVE SO...ā€
  6. I looked around at the girls, feeling all of a sudden pretty angry for that comment that came out of the manager’s mouth, so I suggested we leave. All of this is not worth it, but especially not when we totally got disrespected as customers.
  7. As we were leaving, the manager ran out and offered us gift cards. We turned it down since we knew we weren’t ever coming back to this horrid place.
  8. We wrote our reviews on Yelp. They were met with very nasty responses from the manager, the very same person that said ā€œWELL, YOU GIRLS WOULDN’T LEAVE SO...ā€

In the end, I would like to have my opinions heard, even if Yelp isn’t playing fair. The whole experience would’ve been just bad from the incident from the restaurant, but it was made a million times worse by the repeated hostile attitude from the manager on Yelp. The customer is allowed to have their opinion, even if they’re bad. The business needs to swallow this and improve instead of continuing to attack the customer. I hope this review helps whoever is thinking of going here. Be warned that there may be at least one very hostile and unpleasant...

At the beginning of San Marino, north San Gabriel is a little gem of a coffee shop. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, across the street from an elementary school is the Mary Lane Cafe. This unassuming coffee shop has everything you need to start your day.

Cool jazz music, freshly made lattes, a warm breakfast sandwich and a relaxing outdoor space. My breakfast sandwich was cooked perfectly with bacon and cheese on sourdough. My cinnamon latte was made fresh and it makes a difference. About the same price as a sit down waitress breakfast, my sandwich was the right size. As a local, I’ll be back.

2nd visit had the eggs over spinach with sun dried tomatoes and feta. Need a large latte size. Excellent

Latest item was the simple two eggs with potatoes and bacon. Although the simplest of breakfast standards, it can be effed up. My eggs were cooked as if they were for Benedict but that was fine (egg snob. Scrambled eggs must be fluffy!). Cooked perfectly over medium, crispy potatoes with green onion and just rite bacon. Another fabulous meal.

Busy for moms day, otherwise show up early. I’ve sat outside but don’t miss the cool interior and cool music. ...

My boyfriend and I came on a sunday morning to enjoy an enjoyable breakfast. we were intrigued by the aesthetic of the restaurant and the many options of food provided in the menu. As we walked in they didn’t even acknowledge our presence. not even a ā€œhi welcome we will be right with you.ā€ when we ordered our food the lady taking our order kept interrupting us. she had mentioned that it would take a while for our food to come out. we said okay. we were thinking it was going to take at least 30-40 mins. they took over an hour and a half to bring out our food. keep in mind it was very hot inside, the tables were sticky, and the employees don’t wear gloves while handling food, seeing the cook broom then proceeded to cook the food without washing his hands. once we left they didn’t even say goodbye thank you. still wanting to believe in small businesses, but this one didn’t meet the expectations. unfortunately the service wasn’t the best instead they were more concerned on berating their own worker using vulgar language to degrade him. i would’ve thought these business’s owners would’ve thought about more ethics and morality towards...

Lavender latte: hot: it was 10/10. You can definitely taste the coffee and lavender. I’d highly recommend Caramel latte: 6/10 cold is better. Not as much coffee as you’d expect. Hot is on the sweeter side. If you like caramel, it’s for you! Avocado toast: I think they used less than half an avocado? It was a super thin layered avocado which I was disappointed since the price was a bit high for what I got. French toast: expect eggy toast. No cinnamon in it at all. No flavor. They will give you syrup though! Breakfast bowl: it was okay, and I think portion was good too. Interior: very cute! They have seating inside! They don’t have AC inside I think. It’s pretty warm. Parking: you can park on the street and their parking lot. We came on a Wednesday brunch. I’m assuming weekends are packed.

This place is a very quaint place for a simple breakfast/lunch date. The food was pretty good. I ordered the big Dave's breakfast and it was a good portion. Seating varies because it's a small place. They have a small parking lot but it didnt get too crowded that there wasn't parking. Funny thing is when we were sitting outside enjoying brunch. My girlfriend noticed the different stages of relationships of the people near us. From just starting to date to us couple with couple friends to a pregnant couple and lastly a couple with a toddler. And inside sat an elderly couple before we ordered our food. So definitely a quiet dating spot for those who want to just enjoy food and have a conversation.
