Best grilled pork I have had in the area. I get the GP com about 50% of the time, bahn mi the other 50% and as for the eastern or western... really it's a coin toss for me, depending on mood, but those are my go to's... I probably do western more at lunch time and eastern at dinner time.
Lychee Lemonade, unique, delicious. Lychee green tea and strawberry peach tea also good.
Regarding dipping sauce for rolls and plates, the spicy vegetarian is my favorite.
I REALLY wanted to like the pho bahn mi, a vietnamese spin on the French dip, I've had this thought before, but it's just not something you find "in the wild", at least I haven't seen it, but that's beside the point. The baguette was so perfectly crisp, the broth for dipping is tasty (although I would have liked more) and I love me the pickled veggies, but the brisket... :'( I even doubled up in hopes I was gonna get soft delectable deliciousness. It wasnt the case. The brisket was tough, that was it, it ruined the sandwich, I want to try it again, maybe it was a bad batch of brisket, it should be soooo soft, but it wasn't... total bummer, because sooo much going for for it.
Their chicken wings... meh, I'll go elsewhere if I want chicken wings, but I can understand why some people might get them on the regular.
I've been here at least a dozen times in the past 9 months and will be here at least a dozen more times in...
Read moreThis legendary Orange County Vietnamese restaurant has opened its take out branch in San Gabriel. We have been trying to get to this place and we finally had a chance to do so today.
I was told that this location is the brainchild of the grand daughter of the original Westminster owner trying a new concept of takeout only fast food joint. For the people who love Tay Ho’s food and don’t want to wait, this type of takeout restaurant would be perfect for them. Just order online and then pick up from the restaurant.
The menu is a slimed down version of the original full service restaurant. But all my favorite Vietnamese dishes are on the menu and it’s now listed as sets. This design make the ordering process simple and easy. No complicated decision is needed.
I always order the Banh Cuon ( rice noodle roll) with mice droppings pork and mushrooms along with fried egg roll and Vietnamese bolognese.
This location also offers many fruit drinks and Vietnamese desserts. I tried the Strawberry Peach drink today and it was delicious. I do recommend red bean and green bean desserts.
I believe this branch out of the takeout fast food chain will do well as people are busy nowadays. It’s ideal for the people who work at home and can’t afford to be...
Read moreOrdered a Banh Xeo Pork & Shrimp (No shrimp but extra pork) and 2 orders of Spring Rolls Grilled Pork Sausage. The Banh Xeo is large and crispy, with a bean sprout and onion filling. The House sauce that is included makes a nice complement. There's a decent amount of greens provided, the lettuce and mint leaves are a good amount. All packaged in a very nice cardboard box. The Spring Rolls are packaged more simply by comparison but that doesn't take away from the quality. Nicely folded, with a good portion in each bite. The included Orange dipping sauce tastes good with it. More than likely, you'll have more sauce than you need so they could probably switch to slightly smaller sauce containers. All of it was packaged in a pretty cool reusable bag so pretty happy and amused by that. Location is in a busy plaza and parking can be tight so be careful when you park. The store is very simple, no indoor seating, this is run very optimized as a takeout location. They do have a self serve screen to order in store or you can call ahead or...
