A few months ago I enthusiastically gave this place a five-star rating. Sadly after the disgusting experience today I've reduced my rating to two stars. As I had indicated before there seems to be staffing issues at this location, but the waitress did her best. My husband ordered that mozzarella hamburger which consisted of a nice juicy cheeseburger topped with four mozzarella sticks. He thought it was great. I got the t-bone steak which was not very good - it was kind of a freezer-burn gray and tasted old. The mashed potatoes and corn however were delicious and almost made up for that.
But the reason that I won't be dining there again came at the end of my meal, after I had consumed most of my water and saw a crusty, dried orange substance on the inside of the glass, along with what appeared to be several lip prints on the rim. It's like that joke - the worst thing than finding a bug in your sandwich, is finding half a bug in your sandwich. I had already consumed most of the contents of the glass, so the damage was done. Nonetheless I complained about it, because while it wasn't evident when the glass was full it sure as hell would have been evident when the glass was empty. The guy claiming to be the manager just shrugged it off and said the dishwasher didn't clean very well and it could happen to anyone. Considering the fact that he was the one who filled the glasses and served the water, I find it awfully careless of him to have not noticed what was very obviously a dirty glass when he went to fill it. I appreciate that he comped our meals, but I don't appreciate his attitude or the fact that he seemed to be aware that the dishwashing process was inadequate, but didn't care. With all the viruses and bugs going around, clean dishes and serving ware should be a top priority for every restaurant. I won't dine at a place that doesn't care about basic cleanliness, so I'm afraid I won't be frequenting this...
Read moreFirst off, I just want to start off by saying: I love Denny's! I go all the time and prefer it over fast food any day! However , I was disappointed in service and the manager working at the time. His name was verbally given to me by another employee, but it sounded closely to "Clever" or "Gregor" when pronounced, which was located at the 1001 E Capital St., San Jose, CA location. From the time walked in, it took a long time for me to be acknowledged upon entering the cafe eventhough it was nearly empty. Once I was acknowledged I was told I would by the manager he would would seat me in just a sec. Then when he returned he decided to do otherwise and told another employee he didn't have time seat me, when a total of about 10 guest were in the whole restaurant, only the couple who walked in right before me were not yet eating. Finally, I was seated by someone else then waited about 20min. before deciding to leave because no one came by to take my order. Customer service is an area to definitely be worked on, which is probably why the restaurant was so empty, and on a holiday! I decided to drive to another Denny's that was literally down the street to 2401 Lanai Ave, San Jose, CA. And as soon as I approached the podium another manager, I think (uniform was different color) by the name of Jose. I was greeted and seated. Then my order was taken right away before leaving the table I was seated at. Then food arrived in the amount of time I waited at 1001 E Capital...
Read moreA group of friends and I went to this location today for a quick bite to eat, as we entered we were ignored the the worst hostess I have ever encountered. Her name is Leianna. As she seated us we all noticed and pointed out that there was food all over the table so we asked her for a towel so WE could clean the table. She didnt acknowledge us or our request at all but did proceed to use a napkin to "clean"the table, the end result was just smeared food on the table. She walked away without saying anything but she did roll her eyes at us. Later on during the night she came out to bring us the remaining food we ordered since our waitress was busy, again she did not look up at us when we were talking to her. Lastly, as we were paying for our food she gave us a tremendous amount of attitude because we asked for the order that we had asked to get to go. When she finally brought the order out one of us thanked her, which must've displeased her since she rolled her eyes and said "mhm" while walking away. I asked to speak to the manager who was no help at all. All she did was ask what happened and said "sorry that happened". I mean what was I expecting since the entire time we were there that manager sat at a booth on her phone. Worst experience ever, definitely filed a complaint...
