The atmosphere is warm and cozy just like the cups of coffee and coco they bring to your table. The staff is kind and the customers are lively and vibrant. Typically a family gathering which is fine by me, hearing little kids squeal and babble on in their own little language is a welcome sight on early mornings and cold afternoons. The food is brought out fast and the ketchup bottles have a smiley face on the back to match my own. I truly do enjoy the staff, especially when I see a familiar face who is always working here. An extra ten dollar tip to that short haired man in the vibrant tropical polo. He has always been nothing but kind and charitable, looking at everyone with a warm smile no matter if they are a hefty 400 or reserved to a wheel chair. Here, people tend to look you in the eye and share in honest, face-to-face conversation. Rather than the common game of heads up seven up with parents and teens face first in their screens. That is all well and dandy if you prefer it but, being anti social myself, sticking to writing rather than speaking, the ambience just makes you want to talk.
This may just be my favorite diner. I've eaten at this specific coffee shop for all my life and still it never has disappointed me. Even when I was a small picky child, to a grown adult with an evolved pallet.
Five stars to you flames coffee shop on Santa Teresa. You've earned...
Read moreI only came here because I brought my pet to the place next door and I had not eaten in more than 18 hours. Let's just say I deeply regret this entire day because the veterinary clinic was a scam and this place was not an improvement. I only drank a bottle of water that morning and did not eat so I went by here for coffee and food. Staff was nice. Bit rushed and not chatty (Fine with me). The coffee and omelet seemed bland to me, but I thought that the food might only seem bland because I was stressed about my pet. I can't hold that against this place at all. However, my response to their food after... To keep it mild, I was running to the bathroom and stayed in there for a good 45 minutes. Many return trips after. Not the sort of thing that has EVER happened to me from a sit in restaurant. I have only had this happen twice before and both times I had eaten at a GAS STATION which are notorious for this reaction. Considering I had not eaten other food or drinks, I knew it had to be the food here. I was stressed about my pet, but this reaction was not stressed related because I felt great by the time I was home. (Took my pet to my vet and she drastically improvement in health within minutes.) I have no idea what they did to my food but I think no one should come here unless you hate yourself or really want to become close to...
Read moreThis has been my family's favorite breakfast place for years! Some may say the atmosphere is outdated, but for me it is nostalgic, as I have been going there since I was a kid myself. Their service is fantastic. Your coffee cup never gets empty, they are constantly walking around and refilling it, the food normally comes out within 10 minutes, their portions are huge(I always get 2 meals out of my meal), their food is amazing, and their prices are pretty good. We have also been there for lunch and dinner, and all of their menus don't disappoint. I've never had anything bad there. Today was exceptional. My 9 year old got to choose where she wanted to go for her birthday, and she said she wanted to go to Flames for breakfast. We went and we had Carlos as our server. We have had him many times before, and he recognized us. When we told him it was our girl's birthday, he made is extra special! He brought her out a Mickey Mouse pancake with her breakfast. He also brought out ice cream with a candle for her and her sister, and they sang happy birthday to her! She loved it and felt so special. He is always to friendly, and is a wonderful server. Afterwards, my younger daughter said she wants to go there for her birthday as well. This place really is the best, and we will continue to go there whenever we want to treat ourselves to...
