Fast food place for all things teriyaki. I don't see myself coming back but the prices were not bad for the amount of food we got. We tried the following: . Veggie tempura: Hot and crispy, exactly what I was expecting. The mix includes carrots, zucchini, broccoli and onions. Pretty good and decent portion for an appetizer, I just wish it included a bigger sauce for dipping. . Sampler plate #10: The plate is quite big, aside from the chicken salad and veggie tempura it includes a piece of katsu chicken, a teriyaki chicken drumstick, some beef and pork. The rice (beef rice) was ok, didn't have much flavor. All meats were good. I'd ask for both regular and spicy teriyaki sauce, these help. . Chicken salad: Do not order this. It doesn't come with any sort of dressing, it's just lettuce, some crispy rice noodles and sesame seeds. Think of the side salad you never really want to eat. It's fine if it comes with your combo and you're very hungry, otherwise I'd avoid it altogether, not even worth the $3.39.

Love the tempura dipped vegetables and pork teriyaki. I make it a point to go to Happy House when in San Jose. I live in Hollister and unfortunately we don't have a Happy House Restaurant nearby. The service is excellent and food is fresh and delicious. Japan town is going thru alot of construction looks like new buildings with dual housing and shopping being constructed close to Happy House. Not to worry about parking they have a fairly large parking lot. Try the food next time your in town. You won't be disappointed.

We were hungry and found ourselves in the neighborhood. We wanted to go somewhere else, but it was closed (even though Google said they were open). We found this place, and we were pleasantly surprised. Large portions. Good takeout Japanese food. Maybe not to drive 20 minutes out of the way, but if I'm in the neighborhood again, I'd consider it. Extra star because logo looks like the Nardcore symbol.

I’m so upset because I’ve lived in San Jose for 14 months. I’ve been dying for fried broccoli. Little did I know Japanese have been frying their vegetables for what? Hundreds of years now? 2 days before moving I found this happy little restaurant and it. Was. Absolutely. Incredible!!!! Their Vegetable Tempura was sweet potato, carrots, broccoli, zucchini… I think that was it. & then they have fried green beans which were so delicious. I recommend the fried onion rings the best. Lightly battered. The perfect crunch. The tempura was delightful. It even heats up well if you need to heat it up later. Not like other fried foods. The happi faces potatoes were great. The chicken salad was good but it needed some sauce. Some kind of a zing. All-in-all.. a total tragedy. I absolutely found my favorite restaurant of all time and I moved two days later. I searched where I moved and while Japanese serve vegetable tempura everywhere, it’s things like squash and pumpkin which is still good. Bell peppers and some other veggies I’ve never heard of. But I want my green beans, broccoli, yams, carrots, onions, and potatoes, please. Thank you!! Dipped in ranch and peanut sauce! Just the way Happi...

I walked 1.5 miles from the Hyatt to get food and a couple of bottles of spicy sauce to take back home. Upon entering the establishment I passed by and said hello to an employee who was on her cell call. I proceeded to wait 5 minutes while she finished her call to place my order. She didn't offer an apology and she was quite short with her responses. I asked about the sauce adding that I mainly came to purchase spicy sauce and was told we don't sell it anymore. Okay great where can I get it? We don't sell it. Perhaps a corporate office? No! We don't sell it. The food was delicious after my long walk however after going to this place for 20 plus year's at the Sunnyvale location which is gone. I'm done. I'm a flight attendant and a manager at a stadium customer service is what makes the experience and excites people to return. Happy House N. 5th street I came a long way to get your food because it is that good however, as hard as I work for my $$$ I feel a pleasant experience as I hand it over is the least of my...
