I hadn't intended going in, but I was early for my order at the Chinese restaurant in the same strip mall.
So I decided to check Happy Donuts out. In other words, my first visit!
As I walked to the entrance, I saw "Open 24 Hours" posted, and I was shocked. A 24-hour donut shop? Wow!
So I wasn't certain what I'd find. Normally, a non-24-hour place would be WELL picked over in terms of stock by the time of my visit (around 6:30, 7pm).
But 24 hours? I wasn't sure what to expect.
But when I entered, the place was STOCKED with FRESH donuts!
And they had scores of my absolute favorite (which I only ever have once in a blue moon... as a treat): apple fritters!
I THOUGHT I'd go in, look around, and MAYBE leave with a croissant (yes, they have them) for breakfast in the morning, but one look at those delicious fritters, and I changed my mind.
The lady behind the counter rang me up and answered my question, which was: "Are you really open 24 hours?"
To which she said, "Yes. 24/7!"
Wow. I left with my morning fritter, impressed as I thought about how difficult that must be. Open all day, EVERY day, and keeping the place stocked with donuts.
I don't eat donuts very often (usually never), but I do know if I'm in the mood for another fritter or croissant or maybe some donut I've never tried before, I’ll go to Happy Donuts.
Because that fritter was delicious... even after spending all night...

Read moreThe donuts were okay. The price would have been acceptable if it weren't for the fact that the ATM was a complete rip-off. To begin with, this place only accepts cash. Conveniently, there was an ATM inside the building on the entrance corner. The ATM said you would be charged $2 for a withdrawal. Fair enough. Fast forward a couple of days, I noticed two $2.5 "bank fee" charges on top of the $2 fee already included in the "withdrawal amount" when I checked my bank statement.
Essentially, I paid $7 to have that ATM withdrawal when the machine...
