Overall Jake's is fantastic. We recently ordered a bunch of food to watch the NFL playoff games at home. The hot wings were big and meaty, the generous portion of fried mozzarella sticks perfectly crisp on the outside, and the salads exceeded the typical pizzeria salad (insert Family Guy cutaway joke).
Their pizzas are good with an excellent red sauce and ample toppings. The crusts, however, are the weak point. They're stiff, kind of crackery, lacking any chewy flex found in noteworthy pies. And the creamy garlic sauce doesn't deliver much garlic flavor. Both recipes could use improvement. The sandwiches I've tried were also OK but nothing special.
We've been eating at Jake's fairly regularly since moving to the area. It's got a real neighborhood feel with a welcoming bar to grab some brews while your food is being made. A small, local chain that outdoes corporate restaurants at very...
Read moreVery disappointed. We used to get the pizza here and at The Garrett often. It was our favorite but now it is very noticeable how many changes they have made. It's obvious that they have cut costs but left the prices the same. The dough is bland and the sauce is too. Can even tell that the cheese is lower quality. We went to The Garrett a few months ago and noticed the difference right away. It wasn't good at all. We really struggled to make our way back, unsure if it was an off night or permanent changes. Finally we got the courage to try Jake's to see if they made the same changes and it was the same. Bland boring crust and ingredients. Wish they would have left the pizza the same because it was our favorite. They have a huge menu, it would have made more sense to shorten the menu and make it amazing. I'm really shocked to see recent reviews being so high. The pizza was the best but...
Read moreIt was my first time and first chance to try their pizza. It was ok, 4 1/2 - 5 at best. I will try others (of their pizza) sometime soon. My family and I ordered their combination pizza. What impressed me the most was the service and how clean and organized the restaurant "remained" despite being 150% packed full of people. There was actually a line (we waited in) late in the evening, after the dinner hour. As the 5 of us waited (and had our meal), there was one man out on the restaurant floor who did an amazing job keeping up with the trash, dishes, and flatware. In addition to cleaning the tables and floors. Professionally, yet politely, he worked nonstop for the 5 hours our group was there. A much bigger and more physical job than those who worked the register or kitchen. It was my 65th birthday, made "memorable" due to one man's work ethic, whom I never met...
