First of all the tuna poke I ordered had a long strand of black hair in it as soon as she dropped it off which i immediately took a bite of which the waitress saw pull it out of mouth apologized and said she she would make a new one but then once she brought out the tuna liver roll afterwards I had ordered had Salmon in it, which by the way I am very disgusted by, the waitress had acknowledged it and. she was very hesitant and weird about it. She didn’t apologize and did not offer to take anything off My bill or to take any responsibility for the very disgusting thing on her part. She just asked me if I wanted to order something else ,so I cancelled everything else I had ordered and mind you the fact I didn’t realize it until my partner had pointed it out to me , as I was going in with the mind of having a relaxing dinner after a ridiculous Christmas week but to not make everything was correct before reaching my table is how to not treat a GUEST. So once it arrived and my partner showed it to her, and the the quality of the food in which the fish was inside the TUNA ROLL, she acknowledged herself that it was indeed salmon, and not tuna mind you on the menu it clearly stated each ingredient that was in the roll, and she acknowledged herself that salmon was not to be in the rroll. and she confirmed that I ordered a tuna (only) dish and then she told us “yes that’s salmon” and once again seemed very awkward and hesitant on how to react to the situation, but did not bother to bring a manager even make it right for our experience. That was now two times in the span of our visit at this restaurant. to put it plainly, the service is very neglectful when making things right about dishes and orders, especially when it comes to fish, which is a common ingredient that is an allergen to many people so unless you have a desire for hair in your food or even a potential allergic reaction then sure go ahead and try out Kenji but if not, I would stay very very far away from this restaurant and do your due diligence to find a different place that actually cares about the guests who are dining at their...
Read moreBelow is my original review. Unfortunately today's experience was much different. Luckily the sushi was still top quality as always. When I was seated I realized I was facing into the sun and it was hurting my eyes. I looked around and not seeing anyone to ask I moved to another table. A gentleman came up and said that the table was for larger guests. I told him I did not want to be a problem I just could not sit facing the sun and was happy to move. He still decided to be upset with me and very rudely and abruptly removed everything else from the table. I decided this was an aberration opposed to the excellent service I usually get there. Then my server came and I ordered some food. I enjoyed the oysters and was ready to order more. My server had trouble understanding part of my order so I also tried to make sure they had the other part correct. He said yes yes and rolled his eyes at me and yet he's still got the order wrong. Suddenly they're taking away my utensils and asking me if I want anything else after they took away my utensils. I told them I was still expecting four more pieces of nigiri but at this point I was done and just give me the check. Not only is this the worst service I've ever had here it's probably the worst I've ever had in any sushi restaurant. I wish Lee had been there I never would have been treated this way. Here's my prior review. I hope the next time I come here it is back to the usual standards and I can restore this review. Also please turn on the air conditioning this is part of why I came here in the first place however it has been hot and stuffy the last few times. my former review: Hands down the best Sushi restaurant in the South Bay in my opinion. I have been coming here for a little over a year now and it only gets better. They just released a wonderful take on tuna tartar. I also enjoyed some of their...
Read moreKenji Sushi is hands down one of the best sushi spots in San Jose. I’ve been here multiple times, and every visit is consistently excellent. The quality of the food is always on point—fresh, hot, and beyond scrumptious. Whether you’re a sushi lover or just trying it out, you will not be disappointed.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of sitting at the sushi bar, which was a perfect experience. It wasn’t crowded, making it feel more private, and the service was incredibly quick. I tried the Noah roll for the first time, and it was an amazing surprise! The seared salmon on top was a unique touch, adding a rich, slightly smoky flavor to the roll. Definitely worth trying if you’re a salmon fan.
But, let me tell you about my absolute favorite—the Kamikaze roll. This roll is perfection on a plate. It’s crunchy, has a nice kick to it, and every bite is packed with flavor. I crave this roll every time I visit. Another standout is the Crunch Mango roll. I love to substitute spicy crab with spicy tuna since I can’t eat crab, and it’s just as delicious! It’s a perfect mix of sweet and spicy, a flavor combo that works perfectly together.
A must-have dish for me is the Crunch Roll with Spicy Tuna on rice cakes—honestly, it’s addictive. You cannot go wrong with this. The crispy rice paired with the spicy tuna is just the right balance of texture and flavor.
Of course, the nigiri and sashimi at Kenji are top-notch as well. They always serve beautifully cut, fresh fish that never disappoints. The proportions are perfect, and you can taste the quality in every bite. We also indulged in the classic Spicy Tuna and Salmon cut rolls - a total score of you enjoy clean sushi flavors.
Kenji Sushi is my go-to spot when I want quality sushi and an overall fantastic experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh, flavorful, and creatively crafted sushi...
