First of all the tuna poke I ordered had a long strand of black hair in it as soon as she dropped it off which i immediately took a bite of which the waitress saw pull it out of mouth apologized and said she she would make a new one but then once she brought out the tuna liver roll afterwards I had ordered had Salmon in it, which by the way I am very disgusted by, the waitress had acknowledged it and. she was very hesitant and weird about it. She didn’t apologize and did not offer to take anything off My bill or to take any responsibility for the very disgusting thing on her part. She just asked me if I wanted to order something else ,so I cancelled everything else I had ordered and mind you the fact I didn’t realize it until my partner had pointed it out to me , as I was going in with the mind of having a relaxing dinner after a ridiculous Christmas week but to not make everything was correct before reaching my table is how to not treat a GUEST. So once it arrived and my partner showed it to her, and the the quality of the food in which the fish was inside the TUNA ROLL, she acknowledged herself that it was indeed salmon, and not tuna mind you on the menu it clearly stated each ingredient that was in the roll, and she acknowledged herself that salmon was not to be in the rroll. and she confirmed that I ordered a tuna (only) dish and then she told us “yes that’s salmon” and once again seemed very awkward and hesitant on how to react to the situation, but did not bother to bring a manager even make it right for our experience. That was now two times in the span of our visit at this restaurant. to put it plainly, the service is very neglectful when making things right about dishes and orders, especially when it comes to fish, which is a common ingredient that is an allergen to many people so unless you have a desire for hair in your food or even a potential allergic reaction then sure go ahead and try out Kenji but if not, I would stay very very far away from this restaurant and do your due diligence to find a different place that actually cares about the guests who are dining at their...

Below is my original review. Unfortunately today's experience was much different. Luckily the sushi was still top quality as always. When I was seated I realized I was facing into the sun and it was hurting my eyes. I looked around and not seeing anyone to ask I moved to another table. A gentleman came up and said that the table was for larger guests. I told him I did not want to be a problem I just could not sit facing the sun and was happy to move. He still decided to be upset with me and very rudely and abruptly removed everything else from the table. I decided this was an aberration opposed to the excellent service I usually get there. Then my server came and I ordered some food. I enjoyed the oysters and was ready to order more. My server had trouble understanding part of my order so I also tried to make sure they had the other part correct. He said yes yes and rolled his eyes at me and yet he's still got the order wrong. Suddenly they're taking away my utensils and asking me if I want anything else after they took away my utensils. I told them I was still expecting four more pieces of nigiri but at this point I was done and just give me the check. Not only is this the worst service I've ever had here it's probably the worst I've ever had in any sushi restaurant. I wish Lee had been there I never would have been treated this way. Here's my prior review. I hope the next time I come here it is back to the usual standards and I can restore this review. Also please turn on the air conditioning this is part of why I came here in the first place however it has been hot and stuffy the last few times. my former review: Hands down the best Sushi restaurant in the South Bay in my opinion. I have been coming here for a little over a year now and it only gets better. They just released a wonderful take on tuna tartar. I also enjoyed some of their...

Kenji Sushi is hands down one of the best sushi spots in San Jose. I’ve been here multiple times, and every visit is consistently excellent. The quality of the food is always on point—fresh, hot, and beyond scrumptious. Whether you’re a sushi lover or just trying it out, you will not be disappointed.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of sitting at the sushi bar, which was a perfect experience. It wasn’t crowded, making it feel more private, and the service was incredibly quick. I tried the Noah roll for the first time, and it was an amazing surprise! The seared salmon on top was a unique touch, adding a rich, slightly smoky flavor to the roll. Definitely worth trying if you’re a salmon fan.

But, let me tell you about my absolute favorite—the Kamikaze roll. This roll is perfection on a plate. It’s crunchy, has a nice kick to it, and every bite is packed with flavor. I crave this roll every time I visit. Another standout is the Crunch Mango roll. I love to substitute spicy crab with spicy tuna since I can’t eat crab, and it’s just as delicious! It’s a perfect mix of sweet and spicy, a flavor combo that works perfectly together.

A must-have dish for me is the Crunch Roll with Spicy Tuna on rice cakes—honestly, it’s addictive. You cannot go wrong with this. The crispy rice paired with the spicy tuna is just the right balance of texture and flavor.

Of course, the nigiri and sashimi at Kenji are top-notch as well. They always serve beautifully cut, fresh fish that never disappoints. The proportions are perfect, and you can taste the quality in every bite. We also indulged in the classic Spicy Tuna and Salmon cut rolls - a total score of you enjoy clean sushi flavors.

Kenji Sushi is my go-to spot when I want quality sushi and an overall fantastic experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh, flavorful, and creatively crafted sushi...

Our Kenji Sushi visit was an unplanned affair that turned out well. We were stuck with a few hours between appointments and with limited choices that weren't fast food for a late lunch, mid week. I really dislike how so many *good* places close at 1.30 or 2pm until dinner time. This is not the 50's. We are a modern society with crazy timetables, and a restaurant with extended business hours to cater for a culture that works long hours or has to take late lunches is going to thrive! Nice move, Kenji. Our first impression was of a place well appointed but well used. Its decor is fancy and modern, but in broad daylight, you can see that they will have to replace or upgrade one day just due to heavy wear. I can only assume they are just that busy. We were greeted immediately and seated with no problems. I guess during rush times and later at night, there might be a wait for a table. The wait staff were very casual, almost too much so at our table, but attentive and our food arrived quickly. One of my peeves about many restaurants these days, especially Japanese or Asian Style eating, is ordering many dishes and receiving our main plates or hot plates first, and our appetizers or small plates much much later. Although all the food came out relatively fast, there was no order to the placement of our food and we had totally forgotten we ordered one appetizer by the time it arrived, 3/4 of the way through our meal. That aside, the food was extremely fresh, delicious and unique. Although we sampled only a small selection from the menu, there appeared to be a nice range of modern fusion, traditional and westernised dishes available. We would really like to return on emptier stomachs, with more time up our sleeves for a longer lunch, or a late dinner. There is a small parking lot immediately adjacent with a limited number of mobility spaces for accessibility.

Probably the best Sushi place that me and my love going to over and over again. Awesome ambience , crafty chefs and amazing menu make it for a wonderful setting every single time we get there. All in all a definite recommendation. Parking situation can get a bit better but I guess if you wait for a couple of minutes you can grab a spot right next to restaurant or otherwise there're are a few parking lots at a walking distance.. Love the place and what it has to offer.. Update: 04/01/2021 Date night with wifey after a long time at Kenji Sushi. Kenji has been our go to place for ever and we just can't get enough of it :). Freshly prepared rolls , nice warm tea , awesome sauces , extra fresh ginger, wasabi , no dearth or soy sauce and to top it all the yummylicious green tea ice-cream ( we waited for green team mochi ( they ran out of it :( )) just makes the experience super rich and unforgettable. This time around, we started with the usual suspects , miso soup for wifey and the house salad with the dressing for yours truly. In anticipation of what was to come , we had already asked for additional ginger serving ( we hog on ginger and soy sauce all the time). Followed by the salad and soup, rolled out our top favorite rolls, namely Victoria Secret , Super Mexican, Pink lady ( substituted cucumber for avocado) and Orange blossom. Enjoyed every single bite to the hilt. Ended the night with the hot green tea and ice cream combination. Love the spot , the food , ambience and the folks that work tirelessly to give the customers an amazing experience. Thank you Kenji Sushi for those yummy bites!!!!
