Normally when I go to Lee's I order a couple packs of their BBQ pork and Shrimp spring rolls (my wife's favorite). The one in downtown San Jose makes them fresh for me also the Cupertino store also hooks them up when I order them. Keep in mind it's a special order because I really don't like the idea of picking through packages on the shelf that has pork and shrimp that who knows how long it's been there. Time and content is not a good combination in this case. So I go to this King Rd location with the mind set of yes there's one here let me stop in and grab some... I come in excited to hook the wife up and get in line and order them how I like. The lady (owner/manager type) tells me "no we don't have that"... I say everywhere else they make them for me... why not? She says "we don't have that"... I say " okay you put that on a #6 BBQ pork sandwich why do you say you don't have it?" Then i ask again for them to please do it and they flat out say no we won't. I'm looking like I'm the crazy white guy ordering something they "can't do". So I tell the lady why don't you just say you don't want to do it? She kinda nodded and agreed I was right and I ended up leaving with something instead of wasting a trip. I really loved seeing a HUGE selection of items (not like other stores I've seen). I would have given 4 stars if they could have given me what I really wanted... but she left me not wanting to return because I can't get what I really want. I'm happy to know I have a few Lee's sandwiches I can do to instead of this location. I would still recommend this place but only if it's not a special request...
Read moreI've been eating at Lee's for years! I love their food. I just got a job near this location so I've been going there frequently over the past couple weeks. Yesterday afternoon I got the iced coffee with condensed milk, beef stew with rice, and an egg roll. Everything tasted normal but was room temperature. (When I used to work in a restaurant, there were certain temperatures that the food needed to be in order to pass health code.) I went about the rest of my afternoon, happy because that was my first meal and I had been so hungry. A few hours later, I start feeling a little nauseous and sweaty. I didn't think anything of it until I had to run to the bathroom and throw up!!! I got food poisoning! Over the course of the evening and until 4am, I kept throwing up and had diarrhea. I'm still feeling sick and now I have to take the day off from work. I called the corporate office to notify them of what happened and they thanked me for my call but told me that maybe it's my body that wasn't used to the food because no one else had called..... I grew up eating the food from Lee's. It's definitely not my body that isn't used to it. I was also hesitant to call in because I didn't think it was too big of a deal. Maybe that's what other people thought and decided not to call.
This location needs to go over health code again to prevent other people from getting sick.
I will not be eating at any Lee's...
Read moreA low down version in contrast to other larger Lee's franchises throughout the country, this smallish, dingy outlet offers the usual Vietnamese sandwich varieties in soggy, haphazardly packed sandwich layers often missing/mistaken key condiments, though the Americanized chicken/bacon new item is interesting. It's often crowded and patrons squeezed in narrowed lanes with stuffs brimming on either sides prone to contacts as you carefully finesse through them. Next, the signature breads are often not warm enough and very dry and crusty, a big no-no for any connoisseur of Franco-Vietnamese bakery "banh my" and indicative of baguettes being left out too long! Same with the dried, stail meats Finally, service here sucks, with perpetually grimacing staff having virtually zero proper customer service performance even by the already low Vietnamese expectations. It's like we're the most well known VN sandwich franchise and don't feel the need to improve, even in the face of several such sandwich rivals in the same plaza and area. This location needs to game up its service--starting with its shabby, cluttered display and customer service--to meet the high standards of other...
