Olioli Hawaiian BBQ — Restaurant in San Jose

I been coming here from the start, a bit pricey but it’s still good food. When the restaurant first open everything was cool, the owners were happy to help, because I love Hawaiian food, and they seem hella cool, I became a regular. I would come for at 10am when they opened. They started doing a stamp card, and at first I was able to use it for my favorite Loco Moco; but now they won’t let me do that. I ask talked to the owner for a bit but she seemed like she didn’t really care much about me always being a loyal customer and refused to redeem my stamp card for that Loco moco that she used to redeem when I would go there. I’m cool if this place. I usually would go the mahalo Hawaii BBQ on the south side of San Jose, they beef patty thicker and the quality of the meat is way better. I grew up in that area and would go there after the gym—its a cool spot and the owners super chill to, they always super nice...

Update: Hands down the best plate lunch place in the Bay Area. They opened an indoor eating area now, 4-5 tables and a long counter and there’s outdoor tables as well. I’m stoked this place opened! Just like home.

Original post: I just got done eating here. And I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed.

I got the mix bbq plate. Comes with 1 big piece of short ribs, some bbq beef, and 2 chicken thighs. 2 scoops rice and 1 scoop mac salad. Everything was really good, and the bbq beef was perfect. The quality is better than the chain “hawaiian” bbq places and I’m gonna say, this could easily become my new hawaiian bbq spot.

This is a take out spot, like places in Hawaii, plate lunch style all the way. I’m excited to now try the other local staples they have. Loco moco, Kalua pork, and so on.

Finally a decent place, with decent prices, and higher quality...

I'm sooo glad there I decided to come here on a whim and take a chance on Olioli Hawaiian BBQ. This place is LEGIT!! They serve up a legit plate lunch...reminds me of being back in O'ahu. Cozy little venue, basically a hole in the wall, but still bright, clean and Inviting. There is no room to sit inside, and couple of chairs outside. I think mostly orders are to go.

#IslandGrinds Seafood Combo w/ Chicken Katsu - 5/5 BOMB!!! Generous portions...like back in a day in HI. None of that recession plate lunches I been seen lately...annndddd everything was so ono!! Perfectly fried Fish & Shrimp with Chicken Katsu; not greasy or heavy. The Mac salad was on point. A solid amount of rice. This is what a plate lunch is...
