Bay Area Vietnamese Community's Top Pho Spot Recommendation ✨

They out here sayin' the best place to have "real" Vietnamese is in San Jose, CA. I went and asked around, and this one of the suggested place to try. First off.. They've been here for more than a decade and not a single one of their family, friends or customers.. mention or point out to them that they misspelled tripe??? It's Tripe NOT Stripe!! Or maybe they knew it, but too cheap to get it fix. They overcharging people but too cheap to fix their menu. On to the food, and service: They don't even have a saucer to put your hoisin sauce and chilly sauce for dipping your meat in!! Talk about meat, For $12. Out of the entire bowl, I got ONE piece of tendon, One Brisket, One of each. I drove all the way here from San Francisco just to be disappointed. We try to order the egg roll, and the server tries to discourage us by saying that it will take 15 minutes to prepare, and when that didn't work. She then stated that she will not put in the order until she ask the cook when is it ready. Spoiler Alert : she never came back about it. And HOW can it be ready WHEN THE KITCHEN NEVER RECEIVED THE ORDER?!?!?! You know the difference between a regular and a large bowl? The actual bowl. Food wise, same amount of noodles and same amount of meat (one piece each) The only Asians who think this place serves good Vietnamese food are Bananas.. (Yellow outside, white inside) Clearly, they never had real Vietnamese food. The place looks fancier than most Vietnamese eatery with their high ceiling and large windows, but other than that I would discourage people to come here.

After a softball tournament Sunday evening my daughter and I were looking for some later night eats while heading home. Pho 90 Degrees came recommended by one of my Vietnamese friends and it did not disappoint. First of all, open until midnight, bonus points for feeding the hungry late into the night. The restaurant was packed when we got there around 9:30pm, indicating to me that this was the right spot to be at. We were seated quickly and found that they had a pretty big menu. Since we just spent the better part of the day/evening outdoors at a softball field on a chilly (by CA standards) day, we were ready for some hot soup. I ordered the pho combination with everything in it, as I typically do, along with egg rolls and a featured appetizer, garlic wings. All of our food came out in under 10 minutes. The egg rolls were crisp crunchy and the filling and sauce were pretty good. The wings were fantastic, crunchy, juicy, and each wing had a dollop of steamed garlic, onion, and salt mixture on top. Everyone in my family is a huge garlic fan so this dish was a highlight for us. 10/10 if you are a garlic fan and chicken wing fan I would recommend this dish for you. Lastly, but not least the pho was also great. The broth was tasty, there wasn't a ton of meat, as expected, but the large was more than enough food for my daughter and I to split. All in all a great experience and driving home I found out that this place is very close to my hockey rink in that my son plays at in San Jose. We will be coming back soon.

I'm completely disappointed in this restaurant and how bad the quality of the business is now. I'd used to come here a lot when they first opened and supported them for years, and now returning after a long time, I can say without a doubt this place is TERRIBLE!

Let me tell you my experience. I ordered takeaway, a simple Nem Nuong Cuon (grilled pork spring roll) with no cucumbers because I'm allergic to cucumbers and a fresh coconut drink. First, they tried to hand me someone else's big pho noodle order and the coconut drink. After explaining that I ordered Nem Nuong Cuon (no cucumbers) and a coconut drink, they'd asked me for a receipt which they never gave me, then they walked off to the side and found a printed receipt that was completely rolled up with my order. Then, they did some random shuffling around as if confused, came back, and handed me my order. I asked again if this was my Nem Nuong Cuon (no cucumbers) with the noticeable coconut drink beside it, and they said yes whilst apologizing. Great, at least they said sorry... WRONG! I got home, and you can only imagine how surprised I was to receive my food with cucumbers inside!!÷&?/^@!!#×=!!;$!! Did I mention I am allergic to cucumbers? Oh yeah, and you bet I had a bad reaction! 👎 Complete discomfort and utterly pissed. To the owners and workers... are you trying to drive your customers away?! Because I promise you are doing a darn good job! Never will I come back to your business, and I encourage others to choose someplace else. You will be happier that you did eat elsewhere - wait until this place figures out how to run a business again, take orders by listening carefully, and training its employees better.

Here are two other things I'd like to give feedback just within my short 10-minute stint while waiting on my order. Turn off or turn down your loud TV playing music next to the reception / counter because you can't hear your customers or even care to notice when they come in. I practically was yelling my order, but it seems like 'IT STILL CAME OUT WRONG!' (did anyone hear that?). Lastly, I saw 2 families walk out because they were either ignored or not even on someone's radar to be served / brought to a table. I saw at least 5-6 people working the back and 2 people in the front, with a room barely occupied.

Suggestion, close off half the room and/or outdoor seating if you experience too many online orders coming in. You exhaust your employees, and your business model is going down the drain - figure out what works and add boundaries to your operations so people are more efficient. Or, slim down your menu (only offer popular items that aren't complicated or time consuming to prep)..

I hate giving bad reviews, but I think you can tell how upset I am.. Who knows, slight chance I will come back in a few years, though competition is so fierce that you are falling behind badly Pho 90 Degrees. Do...
