This is one of my favorite local restaurants, and I am a regular now. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to dietary needs (I am mostly vegetarian, and they make the tea leaf salad without the fish sauce for me). The owner clearly loves her work and takes the time to get to know her customers and their preferences.
The food here is very good and reasonably priced. It's hard to pick out something special because I like most everything I've had here, but I think the tea leaf salad is one of my favorites. I've never seen it at any other restaurant, and it combines tastes and textures to make something unique and refreshing.
By the way, looking over the reviews on this site, I see that the older reviews (more than a couple of years ago) appear to be written about the Thai restaurant that used to occupy the same building: Siam Square. Siam Square closed its doors a few years back, and Sweet Mango opened shortly thereafter. The ownership and management is completely different, so those older reviews aren't...
Read moreUpdate: The last few visits have made us move on to a different restaurant. The quality of the food has definitely gone down here.
Have been here twice now. Very good quality food and service. This is the best Chinese food I have been able to find anywhere in the Bay Area. We have tried many other Chinese restaurants and this is the only one we have been willing to go back to again, and we will continue to go back here.
Good size portions and very fresh food. I definitely recommend eating here.
One of the times I ate here was with a friend who is a vegetarian and he is the one who recommended it, so there should be plenty of options if you are vegetarian.
It is a small place with limited seating so go early or make a reservation. We usually eat early so it's not a problem to get a table. Very busy with take out orders also.
They also have their own parking lot, which is unusual near this busy downtown Willow Glen area. It's small but matches the capacity of the seating and there is street parking on Willow...
Read moreYour experience when having lunch or dinner at Sweet Mango is always above and beyond, and this week, I went there for dinner and for lunch and was not disappointed. I have traveled in the last 2 years to China, Burma, and Thailand, and with its intricate combination of exotic spices and high quality of the ingredients, Sweet Mango rivaled the best restaurants in those countries. Not only does the owner remember us, she remembered what we ordered the last time we were there. I have a friend with special dietary needs who must have a gluten-free meal, and not only did she understand completely, they put together several delicious dishes after discussing the ingredients and particular likes and dislikes with my friend...and even more amazing is that it did not take a long time for us to receive our meal. I have never heard of a busy restaurant that goes out of their way to this extent. All I can do is say "bravo," make return visits frequently, and highly recommend them which I have just...
