Vons chicken is great. I used to and still drive up to the sunnyvale location for my korean fried chicken fix. When i heard about this location opening up nearby, i had to give it a try. First time around, didn't know they were closed on Mondays. Went back the next day, got my chicken and went home to eat it with my roomates.
My roomates thought it was great, however, we all agreed that the fried chicken wasn't crispy enough. I thought the chicken was slightly under seasoned as well. The baked chicken was great though, i don't think you can mess those up. Gave it a 4/5. Ordered the Honey Butter crispy chicken, Yangyum, and Vons special suace.
Then i ordered it again 2 days ago. My roomates and I got it delivered this time instead, but in the comments, i asked please make it crispy as it was not crispy the last time. I ordered the Crunch Fried chicken this time. There were bits of the skin that was crispy this time, but overall the chicken skin felt even less crispy than the first time. I'm not sure about the "5 grain powder seasoning", but the chicken wasn't that flavorful. I'll have to order one from the sunnyvale location to compare.
Also i live about 8 mins away so the chicken should be crispy, and not whatever i got. Will give it another try in a...
Read moreLatest review: I have been back since my first review. They have definitely worked out the logistics!! I called in an order and picked it up about 30 minutes later. It was ready and waiting for me. Food was delicious again. As long as the service remains to be quick and accurate I will definitely continue to go back.
Original review which was 2 stars:
I will have to admit, they are still working out the kinks since they've only been open a week. But this isn't their first location. They have 3 employees in front of house taking orders and packing bags, and at least 4 employees in the kitchen.
The wait time was estimated at 30 minutes, which it took at least that long for them to tell me they were out of boneless. So I had to change my order and continue to wait. Don't come here hungry expecting to get a quick meal. Call it in and still be prepared to wait. The prices are a bit high too, but the chicken is good.
Update, it did take about an hour and a half for 2 half orders. I had just asked for my refund when my order came up. They did refund me and let me take the order too. That was extremely nice of them.
I hope they get it together. I will be back, I hope to increase my rating with...
Read moreThis place was easy to find since it sits on the corner facing the street. It's theme is Korean style chicken and dishes. It was okay, because I'm used to actual Korean flavors, and this was changed a bit to American style. I tried the garlic roasted chicken and it was a bit sweet without any garlic flavor. I also got the rice cakes, aka tteokbokki, and it had vegetables without authentic Korean chili paste. I would come here again only for a quick bite, if I couldn't find anything else.
Pros: Free parking outside, they allow indoor dining and have a few outdoor tables, service was fast and counter person was very helpful with a bit of a confusing menu, restaurant and bathroom was very clean.
Cons: portions were a bit small in my opinion, and flavors were a bit off than what I was used to for Korean dishes, menu was also a bit confusing when...
