Customer Service is sub par. I am staying in the neighborhood and walked by so I decided to try them out and have a cupcake, cause who doesn’t love a cupcake?!....I was with my service dog and the young blonde behind the counter tells me no dogs allowed. I was on a quick walk so I didn’t put my dogs vest on but I offered my service dog card. She didn’t bother to look she just said it didn’t matter, no dogs allowed. She still took my order and I sat and ate the cup cake. I didn’t have an attitude at all because I know, maybe she’s just having a bad day and I shouldn’t be mean because there is no point in ruining MY day. The cupcake was 3.00 so I pulled my card out cause since I was in a quick walk I didn’t take cash. She said there is a 5.00 limit. I said no problem just charge me the minimum. I get it cause I worked retail. She again said no there is a limit. I said, not a problem. Just charge me the minimum. She huffed and ran my card for the 3.00. I did leave her the additional 2.00 just to hopefully teach her a lesson in kindness or maybe not. 2.00 isn’t going to break my bank but they have definitely lost a customer and maybe many more because I will let anyone else I come in contact to not spend their money there. Read moreWhen a person shares their experiences please believe them. Not only did I hear bad customer service skills , as far as communicating, Solamar is not the best when it comes to that. I ordered a cake for a 45 th Birthday so they told me they were going to put number 42 ON MY Cake , then 45 in gold on top of gold drippings. When I addressed the issue twice , they never acknowledge the errors so last Friday I found a new cake baker in Carolina PR with 4.9 stars that understood everything I asked for with no problems. However when I told Double cake I read the poor communication with people from their staff , he got dismissive in which I was okay with that . I do not want to do business with people who clearly can not accept responsibility. Great customer service is everything. If that service is poor I can't eat what you serve. Instead of saying we apologize and will get this right for you , they did no such thing. Maybe I should have just ordered cupcakes , that' easy . When you do business you have to be on point in all areas or people will go elsewhere. I know it's not and easy task but reviews are real as to why I looked at them once my order was messed up. Read moreOrdered my daughter’s birthday cake from here (June 28, 2018) as we came to PR to celebrate. Let’s just say, don’t always go by “great reviews”. My cake was HORRIBLE! Not sure if it’s common in PR, but my cake icing was hard as a ROCK 🙄 I picked the cake up early (10am) and kept it on the counter in our hotel room until our 9pm reservation dinner... as I was told by the baker to keep it cool and it’s safe to leave out. I advised the restaurant to not refrigerate as well. Once they brought it out at dinner, I could not even use the cake cutter to cut the cake. Icing fell off in chunks, cake was moist with no flavor even though I ordered a strawberry buttercream filling, and that was stiff too!!
I’m assuming this bakery use lard in their buttercream (yuck), that’s the only thing I can come up with...but I was highly upset with the outcome of the icing and taste. Waste of money!! I should have poked the icing before I left the bakery 🙄 ...
