The pizza here is amazing. Always fresh, packed with unique flavors, and honestly some of the best I’ve had in Puerto Rico. The wait time really depends on when you go. It gets crowded quickly, and there’s not much indoor seating. There are plenty of tables outside though, which helps, but the AC inside isn’t great. If it’s busy, expect it to be hot and muggy. The owner could easily fix this by installing a better mini-split system.
Another thing to know is the drink selection is pretty limited. Mostly kombucha, craft beer, and bottled water. Not ideal if you’re just looking for something cold and refreshing. It’d be great if they added more variety.
Also, when they’re slammed, they probably won’t bring your pizza to your table, especially if you’re outside. You’ll have to get up and check on your order or it might sit for a while or get overlooked. Definitely keep your receipt so you know the time you ordered — it’ll help you keep track.
That said, the pizza itself is the star. They’re absolutely killing it when it comes to flavor and quality. The location is cool too, right in a historic area that’s fun to walk around. I highly recommend paying for the underground parking nearby. It’s cheap and saves you from...
Read moreSelena Pizzería is a lovely spot in el casco de Rio Piedras, there is often parking on the side streets around the Plaza or you can get there by tren urbano. Rio piedras has seen its better days but there are a growing number of young entrepreneurs that are working on revitalizing the urban center and opening their small businesses there, while street artists have brought talent to the abandoned buildings with impressive and colorful paintings, and using recycled materials to create sculptures of art.. etc It seems to me that Selena Pizzeria is at the heart of all because of the food choice (as everyone loves a good pizza), but also because it’s so good , OMG like really really good! Crispy like a good slice should be, and the vegetables were fresh. We had the Selena and Fanny slices with beer and coke and wow! So delicious, especially the Fanny slice. In fact, I think I’m gonna go...
Read moreSelena's Pizza in Rio Piedras is a local favorite known for its New York-style slices, each costing about $4.50. The Selena slice, with pepperoni, bacon, and a touch of maple syrup, is one of their most popular options. However, while we tried the Selena and the Teresa, both were just okay—not bad, but nothing extraordinary. They also offers a small beer selection.
The place gets very crowded, especially on Saturdays, and the system of yelling out names to hand out orders could be better organized. The busy atmosphere and long wait times take away from the experience. The place is very small, there are just 2 tables to sit indoors and 2 others outdoors. Parking in the area is tough, so it's best to take the train and get off at Rio Piedras Station, which is nearby.
Selena's has its charms, but there’s room for improvement in both the flavor and the...
