I'd say they're okay, but definitely not a place I'd go for a burger whenever I wanted one. We waited a little longer to try it out cause of all the hype after the opening, but obviously they are still popular months afterwards.
Last Friday at 8pm we waited for 20 minutes just to get to the counter (we didn't make a phone order since it was in spur-of-the-moment decision). The place is nicely furnished (way prettier than any In-N-Out or 5 Guys) and they have an outdoor seating as well (under the umbrella heaters). It's just next to the main road so if you don't like the noise try to get a spot inside.
We tried the Double Charburger, Fries, Onion Rings and an Ice Cream Cone. The burger was okay, nothing extra special, meat was okay, the bread got too soggy too soon and everything was dripping. Fries were poor, I can honestly say that In-N-Out or 5 Guys both have outstanding fries compared to these. Same goes for onion rings. The ice cream cone was good, held together nicely, was a bit too sweet for my taste, but that's just the way it is with ice creams in any fast food joint.
Overall nothing too impressive. The hype was unjustified in my opinion. We might come back someday if it happens to be another spur of the moment thing, but otherwise no. Gian Burger, In-N-Out & 5 Guys over...
Read moreThe food is good, but San Leandro restaurant messes up my order every other visit. Today, for example, they gave me a sandwich with sourdough on top and a bun on bottom, plus wrong dressing. They didnt run out of bread and try to make up for it. They simply gave me a bad sandwich. Habit does not give refunds in store, so when they make a mistake, you get to pay for it with your added time and effort going to the website, filling out form and waiting for them to contact you. Also, why do they make fries and just set them on a counter waiting to be handed out to customers? The fries are always cold even if you eat in store. Maybe there is some science to not wanting to use a heat lamp like other fast food restaurants (overcooked fires?), but it is a consistently bad experience. If you absolutely like Habit, would direct you to another location like Castro Valley. Otherwise, just pick something else.
BTW, the Wendy's on Davis St makes mistakes on almost every order as well. Maybe San Leandro is cursed. Dont make that your...
Read moreEl Compa Pepo and I were shopping at Southland Mall in Hayward. When we were ready to leave, we decided to go to Habit Grill in San Leandro. We just finished our delicious burgers when I saw a homeless (street person) lady come in and went straight to the condiments and drink section. She strayed touching all the cup lids and then touching the condiments and grabbing the hot peppers (with the tongs), while one of a member of Management watched. Then the lady asked for a cup and served herself free soda. I don't mind nor care of an established gives free soda. I do care when a person is touching items that they are not going to take. This is a Sanitation problem that is not to be taken lightly. I spoke to management and hopefully they will correct this problem. I know things go on behind-the-scenes and the customers don't see. But doing and allowing things in front of customers, you're only asking for trouble. I am going to think twice before...
